📚 Have you discovered any new books recently that you’d like to check out? Recommendations welcome! Happy Wednesday, Bookworms… Is this week going by super slowly for anyone else? I am so ready for the weekend to be here. 😏 Have you discovered any awesome new books recently? One for me was *Reckless Girls* by Rachel Hawkins. I’d seen the book around before, but didn’t really get interested in it until someone mentioned that it’s a summer-ish book, set on an island, and of course I had to add it to my summer tbr. 😂 I really wanted to wait to get the paperback version of it, but it doesn’t come out until later this year, and I got a pretty good deal on the hardcover. I’m definitely curious to check it out. 🥰 What books have you discovered recently? Meroe Island is paradise despite a mysterious history Jake and Eliza then arrive and they are a true golden couple. Now a party of six, they have fun in the sun.

When it becomes clear that the group is even more cut off from civilization than they thought, it starts to feel like the island itself is closing in on them. People end up dead and mysterious things are revealed. But what will happen to them all?

I really enjoyed it and it had many twists and reveals. It's not perfect but it entertained me and made me have emotions. Read it if you like mysterious thrillers.

#Book 6 in the #22booksin2022 #challenge - #RecklessGirls by #RachelHawkins It had a slow start and alternating times, but it really did pick up and was crazy in the end. The story in the book has some of its roots in #SanDiego and talks a lot about loss and privilege. Best part was towards the very end - not getting into any specifics to avoid spoilers for people, but: “What am I when you strip everything else away? I’m a motherfucking survivor.” 👏 Not gonna say who says that either because that would be a spoiler. I enjoyed #reading this more than my colleague did who said she’s a little too old for it. I can see that. Glad I finally finishes it. Hopefully I can get back on track w/ the #22booksin2022challenge - 3 weeks of chronic sleeplessness because of the Olympics did not help with reading. Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins was a popular January BOTM pick. “Two friends charter a boat to a deserted island. Another boat is already there. Everyone is chummy - until a stranger shows up. And now someone is dead.” This is one of those books with dual timelines, unreliable narrators and adults behaving badly. There are no likable characters. The setting is idyllic 🏝 except for the skull and the creepy shed. One thing - there’s a HUGE PLOT HOLE. The story is entertaining. There’s an appropriate twistiness at the end.
