I Never Thought it Would Come to This...

I started reading the Twilight series this afternoon.

I know, I'm ashamed of myself too.

My sister and mom basically shoved the books into my arms and demanded that I read them. I went along with it because... well, because the last time they did this, I read the Hunger Games trilogy, and that was pretty fantastic (even if it did have too many feels and I cried basically from the time Cinna died until the end of the third book. It sucked), so now they think they just know everything in the world about books and what kind of books I would like... I set a very bad precedent right there... *fumes*

So I started reading Twilight this afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised, in that I didn't immediately try to beat my brains out against the nearest wall. It's not a good book by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a surprisingly easy read. That is, when I'm not rolling my eyes at how much of a twit Bella is. Seriously, I want to throttle her... and the way the boys just throw themselves at her despite her insistence that she's so ordinary... It's kind of annoying.

That said, the pacing isn't bad, and the writing isn't godawful. I mean, I've read fanfics that were better, but I've read plenty that were worse too. Maybe that's my best defense, that I read a bunch of fanfics of dubious quality and that insulates me from this book.

Honestly, it's not the worst book I've ever read (though I'm not even 100 pages in, so this might change), but anyone who suggests it will even make my top 100 books will be getting a boot to the head in short order.
