diesel learning from flabbergasted vibes
there's a rad write-up of this album here that i can't really mess with. and you'll have to check it anyway for the password. a few notes to add, though- this album is ill, but probably not what to reach for if you're attracted mainly to hutcherson's deft percussion- the focus is on the vocals here, and eugene (gene) mcdaniels backed by a chorus dominate the tracks. for that reason in some ways it falls into a trap of political music; beating you over the head to make its point. mcdaniels's delivery is theatrical already and the lyrics aren't subtle- but it was 1969 so fair game. recommended regardless. also features joe chambers on the studio tracks, who along with hutcherson was featured as a magical duo in this blog's early days!
