Fic Updates from Dashed

Remember "In a Land Far Far Away"? (Of course you do. And if you're new to the ship, do go and read it, because you are clearly missing out) So, best thing I have seen in my FFnet Updates ---

In a Land Far Far Away (M) Chapter 23 | to not spoil those who haven't read the fic yet, I won't be posting any feedback, only I am glad Dashed surprised us all with this.

She also recently started a light fluff/humor genre for our unsinkable ship, which just like with the rest of her fics, is a marvelous read

Too Soon, WIP, PG latest is Chapter 5

If you need your fix of Regina and Kathryn and yes, with Emma in the picture, do read this next one as Regina and Emma compete for Kathryn's affections. Bonus, there will be Swan Queen still. Personally, I love Red Swan Queen, but no complaints on this one too.

We are all in love with the stories with the love shared between Emma and Regina. Today however, I find myself in the mood for long adventure fics and you might be too. 

Much as I love picturing Regina in her pencil skirts, Regina in FTL and also as the Queen in all her regal manners and clothing is one thing I love visualizing.

Fic Rec | Grooming

Summary | Set in the fairy tale world where the Queen won. It's sick and twisted; they would call her a mother fucker if they knew. Love, manipulation and survival all mean the same thing to Emma in love with her step-mother Regina. A darker look at SwanQueen.

i like cuz | is it possible to rec a story you haven't read yet? YES. i will tell you this, Dashed has weaved the best AU verse to date in my opinion that I have no doubt this fic will be just as addictive. (to the author, should you chance a visit by tumblr and this page, dude you are awesome) 

btw, those who are quite sensitive to certain issues, a warning by the author --

So there might be some triggers in this as I wanted to do dark and eerie. This is almost incest and a few other things that sit very close to the line of uncomfortable for me so be warned.

EDIT -- okay, i have just finished reading. one thing, the warning -- true to word. and it didn't at all turned me off from how the author pushed that envelope. the last time i read this dark of a fic and didn't get disappointed was zoegrace's fic for buffy/angel/spike. 

however, i understand if some people are not too comfortable in these kinds of theme.

so do read at your own risk. it is dark, twisted and definitely worth every minute.

New Recs Now I normally give a breakdown, especially why I like them, but dears, I won't do that for now. My brain is too fried. The only 2 things you need to know, as to why I love these fics, (1) they are awesome reads regardless of verse and (2) the authors do a very good job with keeping the characterizations and when the characters evolve, they are believable. I will try to give some notes if I can. Ratings refer to the A/N(s). The Second Hand Unwinds by Writetherest I have rec'd Writetherest repeatedly. Definitely one of the prominent fic writers for SQ. You like her (i'm assuming author's a she, if i'm wrong, don't hesitate to correct me) ficathons? You will love all her one shots and long fics. Links: Tumblr | FF.Net

Never Gonna Be Alone Fragmented Actions have Consequences All by B of Ericaland. So far, my top fave in her (again, i'm assuming author's a she. do correct me if i am wrong) list of work is Fragmented. I really would like to see how she will follow through with the story because I like how she is weaving the lines already. The attention to timeline can be confusing but the author make it a point to describe which timeline you're at. Link: FF.Net

Series: From the Private Recordings of Sidney Glass  Date: Winter 2012, Location: Cabin in the Woods, Time: 1:42PM (M)  Date: Winter 2012, Location: Mills Residence, Time: 3:27PM (G) Date: Spring 2012, Location: Storybrooke Stable Farm, Time: 12:59PM (M)   All by Eshu's Playground. I have only read the second one so far, the G one and it is brilliant. The approach is also refreshing. You don't see anyone trying this all the time. It's all conversation. The challenge basically lies in communicating the character successfully with just that, no margins or elaboration of what goes on the character's heads. Nicely done. i like cuz | I always love fics that do not veer away from characterization. I love it even more when it is AU and characterization is just as well done. I enjoyed this fic from beginning to the latest chapter post. It is a WIP. Read and I'm sure you will enjoy as well.

Summary | “It's not a game, Miss Swan. I'm dead, buried in the ground. Though I'd imagine haunting you might become a bit of a game, depending on how well you play your part.” (AU- Regina dies in the fire, but you can't get rid of a witch that easily.)

i like cuz | Regina is funny. The author was able to give her that sense of humor and make it believable. An interesting and enjoyable ride to where Regina died and came back a ghost.

Summary | Emma chuckles, again, because Regina is the sappy romantic between the both of them, a firm believer in happy endings and grand gestures. (AU; Emma/Regina.) 

Rating | R

i like cuz | My heart broke reading this. Some things are good without a sequel. I think this story is one of those. Not everything has to be written with a happy ending.
