Fiji and I did our first school presentation together! We talked about "facing your fears" to preschoolers through 7th graders at the Cambridge Classical Academy in Chicago on May 2nd. The children all play the violin, and they were so well-behaved and excited. I told them, "This is Fiji's first time visiting a school, so we all have to do our best to make this a comfortable experience for her. Please no yelling out or running all around." These children were so understanding of that, and many kids even told other children to be quiet when some started to speak out too loud. It was the cutest thing, and Fiji soon relaxed and lied down in her trailer. But even more important, I took her out to walk and introduce herself to the children and taught the children about interacting with dogs and animals, in general. I am so happy this is yet another activity Fiji can accompany me on. I will give a full report soon in my email journal about all that transpired in Chicago and more.
