This is Rockalina, the eastern box turtle. She was kept inside on a cold kitchen floor, living off food scraps and severely neglected, for 50 years. This is her first time feeling the warm sun, green grass and even catching a worm after almost 50 years - the last time she did any of these things was in 1977. Look at her!! she's recovering 🥹 she was surrendered to Garden State Tortoise, a turtle and tortoise sanctuary who are lovingly rehabilitating her. She had a severe beak malformation, overgrown nails, skin & weight issues and a deformed leg. You can follow along her journey on their YouTube channel.
