[@alarmadillopurple42] So what can WE do to help reds? I really want to help but my parents are anti-red and my sister thinks that there is nothing we can do because we're purple and the blues won't listen to us. I'm Anitami so I don't know how I can help reds in other countries. Cause we need to make sure that reds are safe!
So, you can donate money to red-dedicated charities, such as The Decontamination Fund, Ruby Resources, and Red Rescue.* Ruby Resources also takes donations of used clothing in good condition, appliances, and furnishings. These are ~given directly~ to recently decontaminated ex-reds, in order to replace the things they lost, since they can only take a few things with them through decontamination. And Red Rescue is currently calling for additional volunteers as well, to help sort through their case load.
You can also ~volunteer~ in internal red-run projects when the need arises. For example, currently there is a community effort to organize all of the pictures Rivikni reds took before they left, since they will never be able to do it for themselves. They’re taking volunteers, and you can sign up and get vetted here.
And you can also sign up to be a mentor to an ex-red who will be joining your caste! Your country is finished with their transition, but online mentors can be helpful too, for ex-reds in ~other countries~ that are ~doing integration~. You can help them with both practical things, such as job skills, and the more ~intangible things~, such as cultural fit.
You can also preferentially patronize businesses that hire local ex-reds or have economic ties with Miolee,** and write them to tell them why you are doing so. This will incentive them to ~continue~ hiring ex-reds, and bring more business to Miolee’s shores.
And I ~have heard~ that blues listen less when purples write them. That’s ~not okay~ and I’m sorry that happens.
So if you do contact them, you could try to remind them that Anitam’s economics interests are ~still intertwined~ with red cleaning? So, even though your country itself is finished, you still have the most extensive decontamination facilities in the world. And current events mean that they’re making much less profit than expected.
For example, my country, Niyau, was going to patronize your country’s facilities. But our decontamination is currently delayed for an unknown amount of time due to the Rivikni Massacre. So please feel free to use us as a concrete example.
* I’m disincluding People for the Ethical Treatment of Reds from this list, even though they’re a large red-related charity, because I have heard negative stories about them from reds themselves? For example, someone here was complaining that a PETR volunteer was really condescending to their community organizer, and a bunch of other reds chimed in with related stories about poor treatment and misuse of resources. So, apparently they’re not the best use of money, according to the reds who have interacted with them?
[OOC: Red Rescue should be assumed to be similarly terrible, but Arbor doesn’t know that.]
** So you may be wondering why I linked you to a list written by the Alliance for Socially Responsible Business Practices of all groups, given how anti-red they are? So, even if their ~motivation~ is hateful, their list of ex-red-positive businesses is very accurate. And there’s ~no reason~ you can’t use it for the opposite of what they intended.
