The UK Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) was founded in 2007 and is responsible for "the promotion and enforcement of equality and non-discrimination laws"; Baroness Kishwer Falkner (this is the UK we gotta have an aristo in charge) has just finished her term and she has been accused of rampant transphobia, causing several LGBT charities to cut ties, several former members of staff quit calling her "an enemy of human rights" and she made a nice loophole in the proposed Conversation Therapy Ban essentially keeping it legal as long as the victims "consent" (because of course someone can consent to their own abuse and that's not one of the stupidest fucking things I've heard this week).
But don't worry, her 4 year term is over after 5 years (no, that's not a typo) and we get...
Dr. Mary-Ann Stephenson
She has a PHd in Law and over 30 years of working human rights and quality, Dr Stephenson has also *gets my glasses* donated to and vowed to meet with several transmisogynist groups...fuck. She said that while transgender people are upset about the court ruling, women are upset they can't access "single-sex" spaces, because losing legal protection and having your human rights called into question is exactly the same as thinking you saw a transgender person in the toilet.
jesus fucking christ. this is why all trans people should be allowed guns. right, pack it up folks, the government is committed to transmisogyny until at least 2029 so don't bother trying to work with them. harass and bully these bigots until the end of time.
when I'm old I'm going to ask every single person what they did to counter transphobia and when they, inevitably, pretend they were against it and always condemned it I'm going to pull up their history and rub it in their fucking faces. never let them forget.
We are here to provide for all those who are weaker and hungrier, more battered and crippled than ourselves. This is our only certain good and great purpose on earth, and if you ask me about those insoluble economic problems that may arise if the top is deprived of their initiative, I would answer 'to hell with them'. The top is greedy and mean and will always find a way to take care of themselves. They always do.
Writing this post is difficult without flying into a rage.
Jeremy Corbyn has proved in his 30 year political career to be a man of integrity. Always on the right side of history be it with Apartheid or Iraq , he never panders to the wishes of the mob, often to his own disservice. I feel though in this time of opinion poles and focus groups that it’s refreshing to see a man stand by his principles. Surely you wish to know what you are voting for? Surely you want a politician who will stand by his ideals in the face of overwhelming criticism. This very strength of character is being perverted by the right wing tabloids as “weak leadership”. I proudly endorse the man and hopefully without embarrassing myself would like to offer a defense of against the overwhelming character assassination you will no doubt have witnessed in the press.
A self confessed Marxist with the appearance of a somewhat disheveled geography teacher it was never going to be easy. However with a clear socialist battle cry and a determination to prioritise the well being of the public over the well being of large corporations he managed to capture the hearts of young voters in a way never seen within my lifetime. Labour memberships soared prior to the leadership election and he won with an unexpectedly large majority. He appealed to a disenfranchised youth , tired of oily snakes with big smiles and hollow promises ( looking at your Blair ). A youth so long apathetic to the political world and the very issues that they are affected deepest by . I can’t help but feel for all their talk the establishment don’t actually want to see a mobilised youth passionate about the issues of the day.
I could spout paragraph after paragraph about my admiration for the man however I’d rather just address the issue of the day. The constant attempted coups and betrayals from within his own party. The Blairites are never short of an axe to grind with old Jeremy. He threatens their ideas for a neo-liberalist utopia where the 1% flourish from the toils of the lower classes. It’s important I think to realise that this attempted mutiny is not in fact a reflection on Jeremy’s ability to lead nor his legitimacy as a candidate for downing street. It is instead evidence of a divisive idealogical difference within the traditionally socialist Labour party, between Neo-Liberal capitalists (the remnants of Blair’s leadership) who wish to keep the party simply as a low fat alternative to the same economic and social policies held so firmly by Thatcher and the Socialists who desire to return the party to it’s original agenda of priotising the rights of the working class over corporate growth. Corbyn offers a simple yet profound political stance.Make sure large corporations pay their fair share of taxes so the workers who’s blood, sweat and tears feed their machines can have an acceptable standard of living.
I am fully aware this was an in-cohesive rant, feel free to critisise , thanks for reading.
