For the linguists out there, what is Red3yz’ accent? The wikis say he lives in the UK, which I definitely hear in the way he pronounces some words, but I feel like maybe he’s from America originally? Particularly in how he pronounces his ‘r’s, I feel like it’s very American, but I’m really bad with distinguishing accents lol!

Or if there are any old hc fans who remember him talking about it somewhere that would be rad too! Again the wikis say the UK but don’t have references for where he talks abt it

Red has not been seen on the face of the Internet for seven years. His YouTube and his Twitter both went dark back in 2014, nobody as far as I'm aware has any idea of what happened to him, he's moved on and left us all behind.

...or has he?

Something has been bothering me about Red's content through the entirety of S1. It's taken me awhile to figure out exactly what it was, but after getting into the more consistent episodes that he put up toward the end of the season I've figured it out.

Red is the only Hermit in the entirety of history as I'm aware of it that has divided every single one of his episodes into chapters. A quick Google search reveals that the ability to add chapters to YouTube videos was not available until about a year ago, sometime in 2020.

This means that Red3yz-the redstone man with the soothing voice that was reportedly banned from Hermitcraft (I got that from someone on the discord who heard it from Doc so take it with a grain of salt) and subsequently disappeared-went back to his old videos from that server eight years later and lovingly edited them to make them more accessible to longtime viewers. Every single episode thus far is edited this way, and every single chapter is accurately titled. I can't imagine how long that would have taken.

For all you Red3yz fans out there, he's still around. He might not be producing content anymore and hasn't for a very long time, but he still cares about all of the people that continue to watch those old videos and actively wants their experience to be better.

I think that's pretty cool.

How do I know that without hunting down the video and cross referencing the date?

In the Hermitcraft episode that Red3yz released on February 16, 2013 he laments not being able to build Etho’s design for his auto potion room, instead opting for a cobweb-based version. His struggles were due to the fact that the server was still running the 13 week snapshot at the time, so hoppers and comparators were still too buggy to be used in timing mechanisms.
