“You seem to be one of the few who really took the spirit of the season to heart,” Red said as he sidled up to Shadow. “Jack Skellington is an iconic figure of Halloween. So many people here chose such basic attire . . . most of these costumes have nothing to do with the season.” He gestured toward what looked like a discount Superman.

“Not really,” Red said, shaking his head, thinking he didn’t really think aloud. That required some foresight and he tended to not have much of that. He glanced toward the baby in the stroller before dismissing it. He wasn’t a fan of babies.
“What are those things? Crystals? You can grow up those?” he asked curiously, never having seen anything like it before. He knew the Unseelie had gardens of crystals, but he didn’t know of anyone growing them above ground.
