Pt 1

Here is the first couple of pages of my comic! The redhead is Doe, the other is Matris- they are the enforcers of the law, or “redcapes” in their village.

hey, would you mind talking a little about how you coloured this gifset /post/180230161138 ? it's fab!

Okay so I only used 2 adjustment layers when colouring this gif! 

1. Curves

Curves is the more important one because it washes out the blue and green in this scene and brings colour to Jason’s face. It also helps bring light to the scene. These are my settings for my Curves layer:

My settings for RGB helps light the scene (the square circled in red) but also adds a little contrast to it (the square circled in orange). 

That’s the first part, for the second part I use my Curves settings for is helping change the colour mood. This show uses a lot of greens and blues. As you can see on the top where it says RGB, press it and you will see the other 3 options, Red, Green, Blue. You can see where I ended up placing the picks (associated with it’s colours too.) 

Using those picks on the sides really help with this process. You choose one of the picks, for this example let’s say the one on the bottom containing the white, this handles highlights. You’re going to select it and press the lightest part of the gif (which are the highlights on Jason’s face). 

This video really goes more into depth and is easier to learn from, I highly recommend watching it.

2. Selective Colour

For Reds, all I did was enhance the red’s a little and make it more orange. I also just made it dark so he wouldn’t look pale, I used the Black section.

For Yellows, all I did was decrease the Cyan so it would be less vibrant.

For Greens, I made it so the greens in my gifset with turn into cyan!

And I just went into Blacks and had my Black at +1.
