SHE WAS ADRIFT HER THOUGHTS; lost to a sea of hows and whys, questions asked to nothing and nobody--- and only her own voice echoed back. she wouldn’t find any answers in the horizon, but it sure was pretty to look at though, even while her head was a mess. the way the stars peppered the night sky, the moon peering through the clouds and casting shards of light upon the ocean’s surface, dancing between the waves. this ‘ savior's respite ’ place was a nice distraction, but that’s all it was--- a distraction. it couldn’t solve all her problems, nor could it balm the ache in her chest.
standing at the cliff’s edge, the wind whistling by and tousling her short auburn tresses, rogue tucked a stray lock behind her ear like it would help any. the cold was biting at her cheeks, setting into her bones, and she hugged herself in an attempt to fight off the chill, albeit to little avail. for the first time in a while, she was letting herself hurt. no-one else was around to see it, so why bother hiding it? still, she wouldn’t cry--- she wasn’t sure she knew how anymore. any tears she had left had probably dried up long ago.
a shift among the bushes behind her--- she opened her eyes, brow low. without so much as a glance over her shoulder, she made her warning crystal clear to whoever it was lurking around.
“ you mind? this spot’s occupied. ” probably a little harsh, but like hell she was letting anyone see her like this.
