Said good bye to the Y-block yesterday. ~ The Y-Block was built at the end of the 60ies, and both on the inside and the outside there's artwork developed by Picasso together with the artist Nesjar, using the norwegian patented material "naturbetong". Not so interesting for the most of people, but I found myself wondering about the meaning of this demolition. ~ Even after the terror attack of 2012 the building is absolutely not ruined. So it's not a safety matter who lies behind. ~ The building is a part of a complex, and the other building is staying. So there isn't an architectural explaining behind this decision. ~ I don't actually understand. The building has been enlisted by @europanostraeu as one of the most endangered, @unesco has been involved and towsands of people have been demonstrating against the demolition, but the norwegian government just don't care. ~ I just find myself wondering if this could be just the result of the not so good hidden will to erase some unconvenient past,by changing the look of this area. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've always believed the past is written by those who survived, and big changes like this one are very suspicious, when a good reason is missing. ~ Ok, whatever. I'm not in the position to speculate or even find the answer. I said goodbye now, so I'm ok. ~ #yblokka #saveyblokka #reddyblokka #ikkerivyblokka #osloarchitecture #picassoart #europanostra #europanostraaward @unesco #unescoworldheritage @museupicasso @museepicassoparis @picasso (presso Oslo, Norway) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7gnilDntl5/?igshid=1kf8og7tsdl5e
