@ppei_tuning making great use of the Neural Network Trainer by @hptuners on Mike's 2017 6.4L Dodge Charger. #repost @ppei_tuning Fun little project we wanted to share! - A while back our good friend Mike Free at ZFG Diesel Service @zfg_dieselperformance had a Procharger kit installed on his 2017 Dodge Charger 6.4L. He was not satisfied with performance and drivability so he asked if we would check it out. Although we do not have extensive experience with these vehicles, we were up for the challenge and eager to test @hptuners Neural Network Trainer. He trailered the car from Florida to our shop in Lake Charles and we got to work. We asked Mike what he would like improved. He said the transmission shifts are too harsh, the shift points are too high, the car sputters between shifts, idle is too high, feels low on power and the car has some hesitation during normal driving conditions. With this information we decided to reflash the car back to stock and start from scratch. First, we installed a fresh set of injectors with known good data and started building a base file. After doing some reading on the neural network trainer, we decided to calibrate the VE tables for all possible cam angles. We spent a lot of time on the dyno making sure all VE tables were accurate so this car would have great drivability. Once the VE tables were calibrated we started fine tuning. The car will now safely make 600HP at the wheels on 93 octane, and even more on E85. Next we started making some adjustments to the transmission calibration. During initial testing we noticed the shift points were not very consistent making the car very unpredictable. Now the transmission shifts are smooth, quick and consistent which makes this car a great daily driver. Mike picked his car up this weekend and drove it over 7 hours back to Florida with no issues. On his trip back this 6.4L 600WHP car averaged over 21 mpg while traveling at 80mph. A huge thanks to @hptuners because we could not have done this without their Neural Network Trainer.
