The   firey   words   of   the   overlord   seated   opposite   him   and   across   the   quant   dinette   do   not   necessarily   come   as   a   shock.   However,   the   far   more   scorching   tea   that   is   flung   into   his   lap   is   something   of   an   unexpected   retaliation.   Alastor   thrusts   his   hips   backward,   the   legs   of   his   chair   screeching   in   protest   against   the   floor,   hands   up   in   the   air   an   eyes   wide   as   the   drink   seeps   through   his   trousers.   The   liquid   simmers   against   his   skin,   earning   a   hiss   out   of   the   radio   demon.   What   an   absolute   display...

"Rosie⸺"   He   says   through   gritted   teeth,   a   warning   to   his   good   friend.   The   (mildly)   smug   smile   that   played   across   his   mouth   a   moment   ago   has   long   since   gone,   replaced   by   a   rare   grimace.   "My   dear...let's   not   LOSE   OUR   HEADS."   Alastor   cautions,   plucking   a   nearby   napkin   from   the   table   and   throwing   it   across   his   lap,   eyes   never   leaving   the   woman   before   him.   He's   insulted   her,   clearly,   and   hell   hath   no   fury...

"My,   my...what   a   temper."   He   clicks   his   tongue,   finally   blotting   himself   with   his   napkin   as   radio   static   still   crackles   with   displeasure   in   the   air   surrounding   them   both.   She   has   pushed   him   to   the   edge   with   her   little   display.   "And   what   would   you   do   if   I   spilled   tea   on   your   dress,   hm?" 

Such   behavior   is   beneath   him,   of   course.

oh , @redemptsin is pissed for sure. valentino doesn't actually blame her ― he'd flown off the handle again && made a mess of her models. now he shoots her a bright grin , holding his hands out to beckon his baby doll over ; tone sweet && gentle , lowering himself down to be more at level with the other vee. ❛ c'mon , vel ... baby ... don't ignore me , i promise i'll make it up to you ! ❜

      SO    ,    IT'S    A    DEAL    THEN    ?

      ADMITTEDLY    ,    THESE    OUTINGS    WITH    MOTHER    ARE    PLEASANT    ;    something he looks forward to    –    despite the multitude of other people out & about.    a lovely thought without the crowd buzzing around & being insufferable shoppers.    all that    –    well    ,    he prefers the quiet of their home    ,    prefers remaining inside    ,    alone    ,    with the sole company of the woman who birthed him.    there was no interest in the humans around him    ,    who seemed to only take up space & oxygen.    still    ,    he would humor the occasional nudge from his mother    ,    who really wasn’t all that stealthy about what she wanted from him.    a family.

      suspicion does play on his mind    –    was she looking for him to settle with someone else of the female persuasion because of the trainwreck that had been their own family    ?    really    ,    how could he want something that had been a disaster in his own mind    ?    the only good thing about the totality of their blood had been her.    his mother had been the savior that no one asked her to be    ;    & yet    ,    she took up the mantel like a queen.    the least he could do was humor the occasional chiding.

      smile lingers on tight lips    ,    chin in hand moving to look at the woman sitting across from him    ;    fingers draw up to take his glasses off    ,    cleaning them as he speaks.    ❛    i know    ,    mama.    ❜    the reaction simple    ,    though soft.    softer than he is with anyone else.    he would kill for this woman.    (    he has.    )    ❛    i promise i’m looking for someone.    someone who’s fun & likes to dance    !    ❜    he teases softly    ,    putting his glasses back on to finally observe the other.    even in this dingy restaurant    –    her light shines bright.    not like him.
