It was a somewhat frightening truth (a truth no sane person could believe)--- but he couldn’t let the lingering anxiety, that stirred in his stomach, hinder him. Even she could be with them.           The chill in the air cut through Roger's secondhand clothes like knives, his cheeks void of color from the cold wind, his lips chapped and cracking. He looked ill, and his beard and toboggan did nothing for his homeless appearance. He had scraped up enough money to buy a good meal from a local diner, one that would fill him like he hadn't been filled in weeks, and stop the growling in his stomach and subside the nausea and dizziness in his head.

          He entered the establishment with little to no anxiety; surely his disguise could hold, especially this late at night and with a proper physical barrier that hid his face well enough. He took his seat and awaited the waitress, glancing around him at the few people who were at the place at such an hour. He saw no threats, no sketchy looking people or security cameras. He took a deep breath. Maybe he was safe for once.
