                     Wow, that lady is smashed. Proof number one: Her slurred speech and the fact that she seems wobbly on her feet. Proof number two: she gets out the big guns and talks about love. Only drunk people get all philosophical about that. Bucky looks around and tries to find out if she's in the company of friends, but it doesn't seem like it. Well, shit. He should hail her a cab and get her home safely; there are enough assholes out there, who would take advantage of a drunk lady. "I mean, I guess you're right. But now we're smart enough to know that love doesn't have to mean romantic love, right? Love can also mean the unconditional adoration of a dog. Hell, it can be self-love. Hey, how about I hail you a cab and you go home to practice some self-love?"

                       after the attacks the last thing she expected was to see any of the likes of the squad again. even her and rick were ... complicated. but maybe that was because she was withdrawing. maybe that was because the thing inside of her, that goddess, was still there and she knew it. enchantress was just getting her strength back, hiding in the depths of what made june special, like she had merely retreated deep inside her to recollect, and start over. “ harley quinn.... ” she scoffed a bit as she shifted in her spot. “ did waller send you? ”

“WOULD  BE  USEFUL  IF  YOU  SLOW  DOWN.  YOUR  HEARTBEAT  IS  UP.“  casual  mention,  he  approaches  said  heartbeat,  the  presence  beside  him.  unfamiliar  scent,  really.  but  a  welcoming  one.  and  yet,  very  familiar.  hell’s  kitchen  is  not  that  different  from  gotham  city  he  thinks.  he  had  been  there  a  couple  of  times  and  their  habitants  have  a  particular  scent  to  them.  just  like  the  kitchen.  “unfortunately  I  don’t  know  this  place  that  much  so  if  you  could  help  me  out  around.“  he  said,  free  hand  offered  as  cane  clicks  against  the  ground  below  him.  matt  smiles,  welcoming.  teasing  even.  “my  friend  foggy  say  this  is  how  I  get  all  the  ladies.“

     it’s the second week of his junior year in college, and already tony is spending most nights in the library studying for tests and putting together projects. he’s a smart young man, to say the least, and he knows he can get through this year with relative ease, but he also knows that he needs to apply himself -- for the most part. he wants to do well for himself, for sure, but he also knows the expectations his father has of him... and tony stark can’t decide if he wants to spite the older man yet or not; he’s still trying to figure that out.

     tonight is no different than the previous evening, tony sitting at his own table in the sparsely populated library building. he sees three other people in the same area as him: two people sitting at one table, looking to be studying together, and a blonde girl at another table seeming to be doing the same thing he is -- writing a paper. he’s been sitting for hours by now, and he knows she has to -- so he makes a split second decision to call over to her.     “ hey -- what are you studying? ”     a direct way to start a conversation. tony is quite good at being direct, and he skips offering his name because who doesn’t know him?

It had been some time since he had stepped down from his job as the Batman, the dark knight who was watching over Gotham City and bringing justice to it. He did it for years, it had always been dangerous but after all these years, he knew the city didn’t need him. Not as much as he had needed Batman. And call it coincidence that when he decided to drop the mask, he met someone he would’ve never thought would be a good match for him. Harley Quinn. The probably most craziest woman around Gotham, and maybe the entire world. He had heard stories, even heard of the reputation she had built up for herself after she had broken up with the Joker. And in the middle of an event where she just appeared to be, he stepped in, making sure she got accepted like everyone else.

“I swear, we’re going to run late if you don’t decide on a dress now.” he spoke, his voice calm as always. He had just put on his jacket, dressed in a bacl tuxedo he was ready to the gala they would go to tonight. 

Something was different about Harley now. She was still her crazy self, still a little over the top sometimes. But something seemed different. And he liked that.
