     “He’s not a pebble! He’s a human!!” A pebble implied a young gem- naive, wet behind the ears, near useless in a fight but still a gem. The Steven was NOT a gem- not really!! He was- he was a hybrid. An ABOMINATION, created by none other than the traitorous Rose Quartz!! He was, quite frankly, the last human on this entire PLANET that Nova should be talking to, let alone teaching their customs to!!!  

     Honestly, the fact that Nova hadn’t considered that was ASTOUNDING!! Nova was smart- smarter than any ruby 4ND had ever met before, and she was loyal. Hadn’t she realised yet that treating the Steven as one of their own was, for all intents and purposes, TREASON??

     The sight of a Ruby, so soon after the incident with Navy was enough      for Lapis to feel a wave of resentment was over her, and her fingers      clenched into fists. For one, irrational moment, she even believed this      WAS Navy, back on the planet for some inexplicable reason. She was      fully prepared to pounce on the little clod but --- she turned, and it      caused her to pause.

     Not Navy --- not a Ruby she recognised at ll, actually, but Lapis didn’t      drop her guard. A Ruby on Earth didn’t really mean good news.

           “What are you doing here?”

Nova: He’s a sweet cub and I like him, stop being a grump

     -GRUMPING INTENSIFIES-

She was on Earth, that was for sure- but how much time had passed? Where was everyone, what were these- these /monsters/ that kept chasing her, where-? A gem that was definitelly not a beast stood in the distance, and she was /familiar/. ",,,Eebee?" (RedGemCasanova)

     Stars, if things didn’t fall into chaos fast around here! She’d been sleeping, dammit! She’d been having a nice, cosy nap on the couch when the temple door all but sprang open to release a veritable army of corrupted gem beasts, and if that hadn’t woken her up quick-smart, the fusion shouting at her to GET THEM BEFORE THEY ESCAPE did. 

     And so here she was, angry, bothered, armed and dangerous,  traipsing across the beach on some monster hunt because the quartz child had yet to learn to leave things as they were. Ridiculous. This whole chain of command was absolutely ridiculous, and for perhaps the thousandth time since becoming stranded here, she had to marvel at how the Crystal Gems were still alive. 

      But whatever. This wasn’t the time for that. This was the time for gem hunting, and as she rounded a particularly large rock sticking out of the sand ( was that a hand?? ) she froze. 

          ( a bad habit for a solider to develop, she dimly noted ) 

     That wasn’t a corrupted gem. That was a ruby, and one, she realised with a sudden ache to her chest- a pang of grief and longing- that she knew. 

     “Nova!?”

      rosie’s expression morphed into something tender, a sweet smile blooming on her lips. she bent down, taking nova’s hands in her own, and kissed the back of them gently, happiness gleaming in her eyes. with nova, she never felt alone, or frightened or unsure — she felt content. happy. 

     “   me either, nova — i’m so glad we found each other again. it’s been pretty lonely without you around with me.   ”

"Am I just?" Nova's grin only widened as the quartz helped her to spin, laugh escaping her to match her partner's. There was perhaps a little bit of cheeky smugness, the red gem arching to place a little peck on Rosie's lips, before dancing away, chuckling mischievously. Her eyes were bright with teasing fire, trying to lure the other into a game of cat and mouse. (RedGemCasanova)

     “   nova!   ”   rosie’s cheeks warmed with a dark, dusty pink at the kiss, though she felt her own giggles bubble up out of her chest shortly after. the interaction was one she’d truly missed, and she quickly moved after her, spinning with a twirl to intercept her, and swept her into her arms securely. her eyes glinted with triumph, and her lips pulled upwards into a grin.

     “   gotcha!   ”

A hum and grin. The Ruby twirls on the spot, eyes twinkling. "You are a gift that keeps giving, Rosie~" (redgemcasanova)

“   and YOU’RE the sweetest gem in the galaxy, my supernova!   ”   rosie’s words came with ease, bending slightly to take the ruby’s hands in her own, assisting her as she twirled. her eyes were bright, joy evident in her expression, and she let out a happy laugh.

13. On the jawline.

         How Audacious. 

    Rose had been welcoming Nova’s company more frequently as of late.     She found the Ruby’s attempts at wooing her quite adorable, and she     was a delight to talk to. Sometimes, though, Rose forgot just how BOLD     Nova could be. The little Ruby had settled herself in Rose’s lap, much     to her amusement, but before she could comment upon it, Nova’s lips     had been against her jawline. 

    Startled by the act, Rose’s mouth hung open, her cheeks burning a soft     pink, before slowly, she started to laugh, lips pulling up into a coy smile. 

           “Goodness, Nova! How informal of you...”
