We took the scenic drive along the coast from Owen Sound to Wiarton around the Georgian Bluffs. Another excellent recommendation that we received for our Grey County road trip. 📍 The views overlooking the waters of Owen Sound and Colpoy's bay leading into Georgian Bay were gorgeous. The water was a beautiful array of blues, with so many great spots to take it in. 🚤 A few spots we checked out were ☕ The Kemble Women's Institute lookout, which included a well-appointed table and tea service overlooking the water. ⛴ The loss of the Jane Miller historical plaque at the Colpoy's Lookout Conservation Area. ⚓ Big Bay: the Stone Skipping Capital of Canada. There are so many flat stones lining the beach, perfect for skipping across the water. A Donnelly kind of day.  . During this weekend's day trip adventure, we decided to visit the town of Lucan, ON and check out some of the sites related to the notorious Donnelly Family.  . Like us, you may have probably heard of the story of the massacre of the Donnelly's. On Feb 4th, 1880, several members of the Donnelly family were murdered by a mob known as the "Biddulph Peace Society".  . We decided to make Lucan our destination and learn a little more about one of Canada's most infamous crime stories.  . Our first stop was to visit the @lucanmuseum. This local museum has artefacts about the family, the story of what happened, and the town's history. On the property, they have a house from the period that is a near identical layout to the Donnelly home.  . We then headed to St Patrick's church, where the family attended church and the adjoining cemetery where you can find their grave.  . Then, it was up Roman Line to the Donnelly Homestead site.  . And of course…. Success! After several attempts to find the Ghost Squirrels of Exeter with no luck.... Today we finally saw a couple of these elusive rodents. 🐿 We love that the town has fully embraced their unique furry friends. The white squirrel (which is not albino) has become the town Mascot. The town of Exeter and surrounding areas have incorporated the resident white squirrels in their logos, art, and street furniture. Some business owners have even named their businesses and products after the ghost squirrels. We couldn't not check out the @whitesquirrelbakery And try some of their amazing looking treats...had a great chat with the owner (?).
