4th N’ Goal/ Turn On The Light (EP 2015) Pickles: My feelings of this song were very pleasant with the sound aspect. They had given such high energy to their playing and it made the experience much more enticing. Downfall for the song I had was that I had felt excited and defeated by the reaction they gave to the audience for this track. Now I say that because during this song, they had mentioned a significant other about how they were acting towards the “band” and how they wanted more from this relationship but not much more could have been given, so it ends in anger and frustration. I felt myself leaning towards the good parts of this song where it had felt like this was a song that could be played with a lot of high energy at a show and people could highly relate to these circumstances of this relationship. But one other thing I found most awkward was the title of the track; PICKLES. I had spoken with Tom, the guitarist, to answer these mysterious questions for this review. His response was that it was titled for the metaphorical use of pickles on a cheeseburger; sometimes they’re there, sometimes they are not being put into the burger. Odd but I quite enjoy having an odd but cute metaphor to use for people. Euphoria!: Concert ready to bring the crowd together for compassion. Red Line Extreme: Second track of this EP and it is so full of creativity and imagination, which is what I look for in a band when they are coming out with new material; that’s what gets the audience to jump on the wagon. Tom had told the story behind the name of the track and it was one that had to make you crack a smile. The idea came from him and one of his other band mates and them stopping at a local convenient store to buy energy drinks to stay awake while driving. He expressed that the drink was called “Red Line” and that it wasn’t his best tasting drink to have on that tour. He found it to be quite gross and very “extreme” in keeping them awake enough to continue driving on. But beside the mini story, they gave the song meaning and purpose. I enjoyed quite a lot of the perfect unison of singing and playing from the band as a whole; it hadn’t turned into a joke song, it had power behind it. They had given a much needed poppy sound to the song and laced it with a fast progression from all instruments which is where my interest peaked with excitement. I give the singer a congrats for changing his voice all over the board to create an amazing contrast when singing; it made the song swirl around like he was going through multiple emotions all around. Euphoria!: Fast and happy was what you got from the song. Crowd pleaser! Turn On The Lights, Dude!: Ok, so right off the bat, let me paint a picture for you guys! Close your eyes, imagine being in a large venue for a big band concert and let your mind wander. When I did such, I honestly thought I heard and saw blessthefall and Crown The Empire performing in front of me. The beginning of the song was concert worthy to get the crowd pumped up for the rest of the show; it provided such power and intensity. Coming from Tom, he had said his experience with the title was from him and the rest of the band driving on tour and another car coming towards them and yelling out the car, “Turn on your Lights, Dude!” But even with that personal experience behind it, this song would be one to kick off the show for the audience to enjoy. It could even be a cute one-liner to say right before you start the show. I could see happening. All of the lyrics and singing were easy to follow along with too; I hadn’t even found any issues in following along with them for the entirety of the song. The beats were perfect and were very easy to replicate if the audience were to be following along with the band to create an experience. Good job for including your audience guys! Euphoria!: Perfect song to kickstart off a show. This would be the song to have people come over and wanna listen to more of their material. Out of Tortillas Fast-paced and hyperactive is what I had gotten right off the first minute from the song being played. I absolutely love tracks like these because you can’t help but wanna get up and start dancing along. Just like the other songs, it was very creative and funny, especially their middle chorus where they had incorporated a pilot and flight attendant telling the rules on the plane to the passengers. Interesting an probably odd turn of events, Tom found the inspiration from his band mates going to Taco Bell here in the U.S and being upset that associate said they do not have tortilla chips in the shop J.Im guessing we’ve all had those days where we just need those little things in life to commemorate or haunt you, in their case, to create a story like song. Out of the box type of expressionism and it most definitely caught my attention. Dancing till the AM: I saw more dancing and having fun with friends at club just cause the rhythm was upbeat and poppy; perfect choice for small shows. Ken Burns This was song about a person and an effect on the computer for video editing; interesting but needed an answer as to why. Ken Burns is an adventurer on television for the Discovery Channel said Tom, he also found this to be such a funny joke and pun. He said that they had found on their production of “Drown” by Bring Me The Horizon, that there was an effect on the computer called “Ken Burns,” that had made the video focused inside of a camera lens but brought the picture in and out of focus. Beside the funny pun of the track name, my first initial thought about this song was that had come first and foremost, was that it had simple progressions and said what was needed to be said without saying it, if that makes sense. It had put their details in perspective about a close friend who has done wrong to them and now needs to be helped. Even through their struggles and situations, they still help them just because this not how they want it to end between both sides of the spectrum. I believed that the voice was very strong and courageous. The band as a whole continued on perfectly as well through harmony and melody being so consistent. Teen-Aged: Friends and close relationships can either make or break a situation like these few. Slipping more and more, but there will always be a hand out for support in any situation you go through together.
