Review: Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Facial Cleanser
I come to you with a review. I feel like I haven't reviewed a product in a while. So I thought it'd be good to review this cleanser I've been using, because I have strong opinions on it. I was expecting an awesome product because Neutrogena is usually a promising brand where skincare is concerned. I haven't tried many of their facial cleansers (for some weird reason) but I love their sunscreens and lotions. Also, this is from the same line as the famous pink grapefruit cleanser that gets such great reviews (I actually bought that one to test out after this one is used up). This cleanser retails for roughly $8 and has 6 oz. I previously mention that the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser retails for $6 and has 8 oz...more product for less. So you should take that into consideration when trying to figure out which one to purchase. This cleanser claims that it'll reduce redness due to acne. There was my first error. I only read the "redness reducing" part...not the acne part. I have tons of redness on my cheeks and other areas of my face (not due to acne). This cleanser didn't work on that...but it's not for that. So I forgave Neutrogena. But then, when I started getting oilier, and started getting some pimples, I thought it'd be perfect to use this cleanser.
This didn't reduce ANY redness at all. My pimples looked the same and were just as red and noticeable as they had been before I started using the cleanser. This cleanser claims to have chamomile and aloe, but those ingredients didn't help. So I wasn't impressed with that. But I thought, "Hey! It at least will help get rid of the pimples!"...HA. Such a lie. This allegedly has salicylic acid. I say allegedly because it's never taken so long for my pimples to go away. Seriously! It took like three to four weeks! Crazy! When I finally gave up on this cleanser, I pulled out my Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque and they where gone in three-four days!
The cleanser is a cool-looking clear green tinted color. It definitely has a scent that indicates it has chamomile and aloe. I don't especially love the scent. It's one of the things I hate most about the cleanser. It's not a very strong scent, but its definitely present. Where removing makeup is concerned, this does as good a job as any other cleanser. Nothing exceptional. I'd definitely purchase any other cleanser over this one. I'm kind of curious to see how the pink grapefruit one I purchased will compare. It's not the exact same one...I like it's the foaming cleanser. I'll definitely update you guys on that one when I start using it. Well that's all for today's review. XO
