TAGGING: Kurt Hummel, Blaine Anderson, and the Warblers.
LOCATION: Dalton Academy, Westerville.
TIME FRAME: Afternoon, ~12PM.
NOTES: Blaine calls a Warbler meeting to right a few wrongs concerning Regionals.
Blaine: After Friday's happenings in Warbler practice, Blaine had been thinking a lot. Although Kurt and him had been fine, his words didn't quite leave him alone - he was right. Every competition they had and every time they practiced - it was always Blaine singing lead. And he loved being in the spotlight, he wasn't going to deny that. There was something about singing and having people look at him and like what he was doing that gave him a huge confidence boost but he had clearly been blind to other people's feelings on a few occasions. So, over the course of the weekend he had made a decision and called a Warbler meeting to announce just that. Said meeting was going a bit different than expected though as he was currently sitting on the arm of a couch and listening to the council argue about which song he should sing. When they finally started discussing how Blaine should just pick the song, he couldn't take it any long and got up, raising a hand to catch their attention. "Enough, I'm tired of this. I'm tired of the Warblers just being about me. I'm really, really grateful for the opportunity you've given me considering I haven't been here that long but there are so many amazing voices in this group and we're not going to win Regionals by just doing the same things as always. It's not fair to give nobody else a chance to shine. Which is why I propose that we rearrange our eleven ‘o clock number and turn it into a duet."
Kurt: To say Kurt was excited for another Warbler meeting would be a lie. Listening to the council argue over which perfect song to give perfect Blaine for their perfect Regionals setlist was a little bit more than unnerving. He loved his boyfriend more than anything, but watching the team throw away their own wants and needs to cater to Blaine -- who looked extremely uncomfortable where he sat next to Kurt -- was hardly a walk in the park. So, when Blaine began to speak up for those that couldn't (mostly himself, Kurt thought), he had to physically hold his jaw from dropping into his lap. The silence that fell over the room was nothing short of eerie, but Kurt wasted no time, leaning forward with a hand raised towards the table of coucilmen, "You can go ahead and put my name on that audition list," he said easily, giving them a small nod and a wink before settling back into his seat, his smile wide and a little smug as he turned to give Blaine a reassuring look.
Blaine: Blaine hadn't expected cheering from the council but the absolute silence made him a little wary. All it took was Kurt's reassuring look and words to get back on track, speaking quickly after Kurt had finished. "No, no auditions." Blaine requested with a shake of his head, taking a small breath before going on. "I want to sing a duet - with Kurt." That being said, he directed a happy little smile down to where his boyfriend was sat next to him, hoping for some kind of approval.
Kurt: When Blaine dismissed his audition, Kurt felt a little put off. He knew that Blaine didn't dislike singing with him, but he wondered what in the world he had up his sleeve. It wasn't until he explained that he wanted to specifically sing with him that Kurt tilted a head in his direction, eyebrows raised and lips parted as he tried to find something intelligent to say. "But.. there's so many talented people here," he explained, hands fiddling with one another in his lap as he tried not to nearly scream his acceptance on the spot. "Everyone should get a shot at that honor." At that, he looked around for lsomeone to agree, though instead, most of them were just smiling back at Kurt and Blaine, the attention making him blush a bit as his head ducked down.
Blaine: Blaine returned Kurt's look, the smile still on his face even as Kurt tried to convince him - or maybe himself, too - that everybody deserved a chance. And of course they did but from the look on everybody's face, they were all in agreement. And Kurt really did deserve this. "All in favor of Kurt being my duet partner at Regionals?" He asked, his own hand raising up while his other one reached over to slide over Kurt's shoulder. When he looked around, he wasn't surprised to see most everyone's hand up, his smile growing even wider when Wes banged his gavel down which meant all was said and done.
Kurt: Eyes flicking down to Blaine's arm around his shoulder, he watched in silent awe as the room agreed to let him have the part, no audition necessary. Laughing out of pure bliss, he nodded when Wes ended the meeting in the only way he knew how, and he adjusted his bag on his shoulder before he allowed everyone else to file out slowly, leaving himself and Blaine in the room. Kurt stood up slowly, moving to stand in front of Blaine where he leaned against the arm rest. "You little sneak," he teased, though his words were hardly spiteful at all. Within seconds, Kurt leaned forward and threw his arms around the Blaine, the force of the hug nearly toppling them over and onto the couch completely. "Thank you," he added, voice quiet where his face was tucked away against Blaine's neck.
Blaine: ^Blaine could barely retain a happy squeal when everybody agreed and congratulations were thrown out. This definitely felt at least as good as getting a solo himself. Slowly, everybody was leaving and Blaine stayed behind happily, hoping to get that real, bright Kurt-smile back that he loved being the cause of. He wasn't disappointed when Kurt stood up in front of him and he just so managed to catch himself before the force of Kurt's hug knocked him backwards. "You're more than welcome - you deserve it." He chuckled, arms tight around Kurt's waist and chin tucked over his shoulder. "Everybody things so."
Kurt: Eager to stay wrapped up in his boyfriend, Kurt remained exactly where hie was, his smile wide and genuine when he pulled back enough to press their foreheads together. "If only because you talk me up so much," he said, poking a finger at Blaine's chest with a small laugh. Sighing, then, Kurt's lips twisted a bit, eyes downcast as he spoke. "I'm sorry for the way I acted. It was completely out of line for me to take my frustrations out on you when you really didn't ask for all the attention you get. The well deserved attention, might I add," he said, nudging their noses together briefly. "But, I really do appreciate what you did for me."
Blaine: "Nope, it's all your talent." Blaine insisted, eyes fluttering close when their foreheads touched together. It was nice, getting the bad feeling about possibly making others in the group unhappy off his chest and it was all thanks to Kurt. "No, hey." he started, moving to cup Kurt's cheek and press a quick kiss to his lips. "You weren't out of line - you told me how you felt and I'm pretty sure that's what boyfriends do. And I think I needed that. So thank you." He smiled, his hand sliding around to cup the back of Kurt's neck, fingers brushing through the short hair there.
Kurt: Leaning into the kiss, Kurt let his eyes remain closed, his smile unavoidable at this point as Blaine reassured him he'd done nothing wrong. And though Kurt wanted to protest, even just a little bit, he didn't, instead choosing to enjoy being close to his boyfriend. "You're welcome," he said first, arms moving to wrap around Blaine's waist, his hand pressing at the small of his back to keep them close. "I love you," he then added, his head tilting up to let their lips brush in another kiss, this one a little longer than the first.
Blaine: Blaine was happy to just stay where he was, pressed close to Kurt and enjoying the quite moment. He had never thought that one day, he would be able to stay in the middle of his school and kiss his boyfriend and not have anything more than a few catcalls to fear. "I love you too." He replied easily, the words having become second nature by now as he leaned into the second kiss, his free arm circling around Kurt's neck while his hand still brushed through his hair lightly.
Kurt: Smiling against Blaine's lips, Kurt fought to keep them upright, his hand supporting where Blaine's back was leaning off the arm rest before he pulled away, cheek flushed and eyes bright. Then, grabbing Blaine by the tie, he pulled them both up and off the couch, his hands smoothing down the front of his blazer before he moved to take Blaine's hand in his own. "We should get lunch," he started, "and then go back to your room to look over possible song choices. Unless," he paused, giving Blaine a pointed look, "you've already got one in mind?"
Blaine: Blaine wasn't too worried about falling over, letting Kurt hold them up without second doubts. If he trusted anybody not to drop him, it certainly was him. A small noise escaped him when Kurt pulled him forward by his tie which wasn't one of his most dignified moments but he tried to mask it by clearing his throat quickly. "I might have a suggestion." He hummed, fingers squeezing Kurt's as he started walking alongside him.
