p.s. we also say fem in English, but we usually don´t keep the French spelling, though I´ve seen it used from time to time. The word that is derived from, i think, is effeminate, so that´s why it is shortened without the ¨extra¨ m and e

well the French word femme is pronounced /fam/ and means "woman" and "wife", and we don't use it in this context, but I've seen it used in English ^^ we say efféminé, which literally means "effeminate"
