Nyiri's cool looking; any lore ideas for him so far?

so according to the person i got him from, his parents are both desert gods, and i was like “hm.... .. . i can do stuff with that”. so i found the name of a desert (the Nyiri Desert is located in Kenya if that’s interesting), gave it to him, and bam! made him a minor deity!
(this is his current, very rough prototype design)
i think he’s going to be in the deserts around the territory, guiding lost dragons towards freedom and safety. those who offer him gifts may find that the sandstorms don’t hit them as hard, or that water is slightly easier to find. as long as they’re in his desert, they are protected. the train that runs through the northern desert is allowed to pass without events.
those who offend him or his deserts, however, are not treated as kindly. they’re hit harder by the sand and sun, and nobody will be there to guide you. the earth and sand will claim whatever is left of you.
