Rhaegar had heard of the Red Woman. Stories of her only seemed to increase in frequency as of late. She wasn't his first encounter with the religion, he remembered long ago, Thoros of Myr putting on a show of fire for his Father. But Aerys was never one to change his mind so easily. He remembers the large library he once held, filled with books on R'hllor, on Azor Ahai. His fascination with prophecies had shaped his life, and finding out all he could about Azor Ahai had often been a mission for him. But he thought in passing years, the religion had likely descended into madness and desperation. After all, who in their right mind would name Stannis Baratheon to be the warrior reborn?
Still, constant stories and whispers about Melisandre do not prepare him for her. It surely should be impossible to prepare for waking, and finding the priestess standing in the entrance hall of his closely-guarded home. Rhaegar hopes it was sorcery and not blood that allowed her entrance. He had no desire to have more blood on his hands. "If your here to ask me to bend the knee to your false King, it has been a wasted visit Priestess," Rhaegar says simply, standing at the opposite side of the hall to the woman. He doesn't ask how she knows he lives, he has no interest in hearing how her god whispered it in her ear. "Or perhaps you've come to kill me, so I don't try and retake my throne? Plenty before you have tried and failed."
