One more set of my Red Tiger Abutilon in celebration of the first day of Spring and of Iceland’s new baby volcano! I love how minimal and classy the growth pattern of this plant is and how the flowers look like little lanterns made of lava. It’s just a short thin inconspicuous tree until the flowers pop and I love that from a distance they look like X-Mas ornaments! I’ve been growing this one since it was less than 2ft tall and now it’s at least 9! I’m not sure how tall they can get but I haven’t seen one taller than this. In celebration of the first day of Spring and of Iceland’s new baby volcano here is one of my favorite flowers that brings both Spring and lava to mind. It’s a Red Tiger Abutilon and part of the maple family. I love how minimal and classy the growth pattern of this plant is and how the flowers look like little lanterns made of lava. It’s just a short thin inconspicuous tree until the flowers pop and wow your eyes! I’ve been growing this one since it was less than 2ft tall and now it’s at least 9!
