"You pull me in like some kind of wind Mesmerized by the hold I'm in..." Some self indulgence.
Enjoy the rich flavors of red velvet with the comfort of a skillet cookie. This recipe makes a chewy and gooey red velvet cookie with melty chocolate chips, which is ideal for sharing or enjoying on your own.
Ingredients: 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1/2 cup packed brown sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1 cup all-purpose flour. 2 tablespoons cocoa powder. 1 teaspoon red food coloring. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup white chocolate chips. 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. Powdered sugar for dusting.
Instructions: Start by heating the oven to 350F 175C. Melted butter, white sugar, and brown sugar should all be mixed together well in a mixing bowl using a whisk. After you add the egg and vanilla extract, mix it in until it's smooth. Add the red food coloring and mix it in until the color is spread out evenly. Mix the cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and flour together in a different bowl using a whisk. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ones and mix them together until they are just combined. Add the white chocolate chips and semisweet chocolate chips and mix them in. Place the cookie dough in a cast iron skillet and spread it out evenly. It should be baked in a hot oven for twenty to twenty-five minutes, or until the edges are set and the middle is still a little soft. Take the cookie out of the oven and let it cool down for a few minutes. For the last touch, sprinkle powdered sugar over the top. While the red velvet skillet cookie is still warm, cut it up and serve it.
