Reed never thought much about their reflection until just recently when their mom dropped a major bombshell.
It was the night after they made the news for taking down one of Dr. Knarfs mutants with an axe. Their mother sat them down and told them that Knarf was their biological father.
Reed had a father. He died of cancer when they were sixteen. Apparently he knew about this but didn’t say anything about it.
Their whole life up until that point had been a lie. 34 years they have been lied to!
Now that they know, all that they see in the mirror is him. The blue eyes, the red hair, even the birthmark on the left side of their head. The only thing missing was the yellowed skin from god knows what.
They quickly left the bathroom, running a hand through their hair.
Suddenly, they grabbed the phone, quickly dialing a number.
“Hello?”
“Liam?” Reed asked.
“Reed?” Liam responded, “Hey, how are you?”
“Good, good, uh,” Reed tightly closed their eyes, “Hey, about this summer.”
“I got everything for her. The bus ticket, her medication, her-“
“I think she should stay with you.”
Liam fell silent.
“Look, Liam, I know it’s sudden, but,” They took a deep breath, “I just found out about something that shattered everything I knew about my life. I don’t need her getting wrapped up into it until I get it all straightened out.”
“Is everything alright?”
“No,” Reed said, “No it’s not. Alberta will be safer with you.”
“Don’t you want to talk to her about this?”
“I don’t think I can, Liam,” Reed sniffed, “if I hear her voice I will go back on my decision and put her in danger.”
“Reed tell me what’s going on.”
“Dr. Knarf is my father!” They suddenly hung up, before bursting into tears. They slid against the wall until they sat on the ground, sobbing violently.
