I sketched a Jupiter (Kaori’s reef drake) and colored it with this website. I also might have forgotten to draw his other back leg and didn’t notice until I had the drawing already colored sooo... it may look a bit weird.

How is Acai compared to Goji? Do they have similarities and differences? (please update your story)

Oh gosh, hum … this is actually king of interesting to think about - especially since I’ve developed so much for Goji already and Acai is still quite new to everything.

Acai is very young, her age not definitely known, but likely still under two years. Because of this, she’s not as independent as Goji - she very much depends on Reed for a lot of her dietary needs and social training, she hasn’t been able to have much hum …  hunting training when she was still in the nest. What she did have was mostly based on scavenging dead pact corpses in the foliage from the crash or hylek butchered by mordrem, which has been a difficult aspect to try and train out of her by Reed ( and a big reason why she doesn’t trust leaving Acai with many people. ) This is all super different from Goji, as he’ll purposefully wander to go snap up some fish or small mammals when bored or hungry - Reed doesn’t have to worry about monitoring him for that.

Their diet also differs greatly! Goji can survive on a fish-rich diet, especially if he’s left to catch his own food himself, whereas Acai is absolutely neurotic / terrified of fish. She’s never been exposed to it before being taken in by Reed, and so the concept of this strange wet creature is beyond her. Reed has had to put most of whatever gold she makes towards a steady diet of meat for the small wyvern ( not too difficult to get in the black citadel, thankfully ) as there is a limit to which she can hunt down to feed the two of them.

I suppose another big difference would be their reaction when Reed is around others - Goji is super social and adores attention from others when Reed visits nearly anyone, but Acai is still pretty much a baby and feels threatened when Reed’s attention is pulled away from her for too long, or when people approach Reed without warning. There have been a few close moments where Acai has snapped or snarled at some of Reed’s friends. That being said, she is a lot better now than she was before - Acai will purposefully put herself in positions to gain attention just like Goji now ( maybe something she picked up from him ) and enjoys attention when she seeks it out, but otherwise only Reed is allowed to touch her.

The two are both big sun-bathers though ! Both could easily be found sprawled out lazily across the floor in a sunny patch if given the quiet time and opportunity, which is fairly entertaining given how large they are and how small most rooms are. Reed would make sure to bring the two to open areas around Teku Nuhoch before the accident happened so that they could have time to relax in the sun - I’m sure the Itzel got used to the strange sunny reptiles.

It’s difficult to compare the two training-wise, as Goji has been with Reed for 18 years already and has been thoroughly trained by her the entire time, but Acai has only been with Reed for a few months now. Goji is extremely obedient and Reed’s most favoured companion for obvious reasons, but Acai has shown incredible progress since she was first taken in. She is definitely more stubborn over certain things than Goji was, not because she’s stupid or stubborn, but because she’s young and being brought out to a brand new world beyond her previous fire-and-treetop land - it’s all a bit of sensory overload at times!

Hmm … what else …

Goji loves having his crest scratched, tummy tubbed, and p.much everything rubbed because cuddles are amazing, Acai is a bit more finicky and hates having her wings touched by anyone but Reed, but loves getting her chin and nose scratched. If you try and pet her on her back or neck, she’ll likely be very nervous unless she was the one who initiated it. Goji is just a cuddle bug, please give him rubs.

I guess some smaller differences / similarities between the two would be :

・Size ( Goji is massive, whereas Acai is still growing, about half the size )

・Being alone ( Acai gets separation anxiety and can’t be trusted on her own when left alone in the citadel, Goji is 1oo% okay to be alone and will just nap or entertain himself somehow )

・Reaction to other people’s animals ( Goji is usually fine with pretty much any other ranger pets or companions, he doesn’t usually care too much. Acai varies between being neutral to extremely curious of them. )

・Enjoyment of Water ( both absolutely adore playing in the water, although Acai never wanders deeper than her shoulders. Goji will full on dive in and lay at the bottom of the riverbed / lake if possible )

Aaaaaah I don’t know, they have a lot of similarities and differences really ! But I think that’s what makes them so fun to role-play with Reed  ; v ;
