do any of your trolls have fears of being separated from their quadrants by being taken off to the fleet or some other possible means?

a few, yeah.

ayatti is a little scared of dying on the job, since her job is super dangerous even with her little, uh, arrangement. she never minded the thought before, but the idea of leaving zer behind after getting him attached stings to her.

tantun doesn’t mention it, but shes admittedly afraid of being culled for her eye mutation or snatched up for her psionics.

reelas is extremely scared that someday kellen’s gonna come after him or he’s going to get snatched up and sold off again.

agneya is admittedly a little afraid of slavers, too, since legally speaking she only got out of being a slave out of sheer luck.

devata keeps her psionics a secret because she’s afraid of being regarded as lime (even though she’s olive) or sold into the slave trade for it (since they can be applied practically).

rjikah doesn’t really have many people besides his black interest but hes always been a little afraid of ending up in the caverns.

bhisaj is absolutely terrified of either getting dragged back to the caverns and leaving lyn and ian behind or, worse, midias finding him again. its actually why hes never removed his brand.

attrum is afraid of being culled for his mutation or snatched back into the carnival.

dessha is afraid of being forced into fighting for the throne or culled altogether.

so i have like 3 trolls who are good with mechanics, but they're all good at it in different ways like.

ree's good with electrical things. building circuitboards and fixing appliances. it's mostly instinctual crap with a bit of learned shit, so if you had something broken and left him alone with it for a few minutes he'd probably crawl inside and find a way to fix it (at least temporarily). in futurestuck, after some practice and research, he'd probably be good at maintenance on a proper airship, though as he'd not so hot with anatomical or biological things, he'd never be able to build fake limbs or anything like that.

dreden, however, is intimately familiar with anatomical structures as her mechanical endeavours exclusively involve mimicking troll forms. her dolls tend to be automated in at least some way or form (usually small, simple tasks like cleaning or opening doors or just wandering about; they usually serve as robotic maids), though her programming skills are somewhat subpar and thusly she could never build, say, an ai system. she does, however, like to build robotic limbs (just limbs, incidentally; she isn't familiar enough with internal workings to build anything more complex) for people who she likes or people who are willing to pay enough for her time and effort, and while they're typically very high quality and aesthetically nice (usually either doll-based or incredibly realistic), functionally they're very basic and usually lack any special features.

and then there's devata. she's my actual career-mechanic, so her skills are a bit more well-rounded. she typically works on repair jobs for tech other people have made, so she's got a knack for figuring out even unfamiliar mechanical structures (since every mechanic has their own style of things). usually, if it's mechanical, she can fix it. while she doesn't get proper tech orders of her own often, she's also capable of making her own stuff. weapons, computers, robots, appliances, prosthetics, transportation devices; you name it and pay her for it, and she can do it. her specialty is biotech, however, so typically her mechanical body replacements, while very realistic and functional (though she can make standard metallic parts on request), are more expensive than your average place would be. on the bright side, however, she's actually capable of working with soft tissue and artificial nerves, so she'd be your go-to for odd replacements like tongues, fingers, eyes, organs, bulges, that sort of thing.

Psionics: Reelas

Since Reelas probably has the most psionic powers out of my trolls, I'm gonna explain how they work a bit. His registered Psion level on paper is 7, but in practice it's probably a little higher.

Electrokinesis

His primary power, naturally, is electrokinesis, and while he only produces a small amount of electrical energy on his own, he can function as a sponge of sorts and absorb very large amounts of energy from outside sources (batteries, outlets, other trolls, etc.). Though he does have a capacity limit, he hasn't found it yet. Once he has the energy stored up, he can discharge it in assorted quantities, though he has trouble focusing it without some kind of vector (he usually either touches the troll he's trying to shock or uses something metal, though he can just discharge the energy harmlessly into the ground or air). He can use this to power electrical devices, though it's very difficult to keep the focus properly for this and he has a habit of accidentally frying objects this way.

Incidentally, any stored up energy he has will slowly dissipate on its own after a while if he doesn't use it and isn't wearing blockers or some kind of insulator (his ancestor took advantage of this and wore an insulated suit with conductive gloves to help focus his power). He also tends to lose control of his power under stressful conditions, such as emotional distress or overstimulation.

He's also been psychologically conditioned by his owners to be incapable of using his psionics against them.

Telekinesis

A secondary and significantly more minor power, Reelas has the ability to telekinetically lift and move things around, including himself. He actually tends to float around to places more often than not out of habit or possibly just comfort. He can hover a few feet in the air, but tends to hit his limit at about 20-30 ft.

When it comes to other objects, however, he has a bit more trouble. While he can easily lift small objects and even psionically touch things, his ability is very limited and as a rule of thumb if he can't lift it by hand, he probably can't lift it telekinetically either.
