The Land of Nowhere

“Beyond the Valley of Somewhere, but not as far as the Jungle of Neither Here Nor There.”

AKA, the land run by Chase Young. I figure his lair is hidden somewhere within its borders. 

Chase can see (and hear) all that goes on via a magic eyeball that sprouts from the ground in his lair.... I don’t even know. Can probably be explained away by dark magic or whatever. Moving on.

With the help of the eye, Chase can pull a Mufasa and project his image in the sky.

Aaaand, with a bolt of lightening, Chase can transport himself anywhere within the Land of Nowhere. He can also use this ability to transport himself back home. 

The Canyon of Doom and Agony:

Supposedly used to be called Hummingbird Acres but “attracted too many lookie-loos.” A deep canyon with stone structures looking like beastly faces and sprouting arms. 

With a bit of magic, Chase can manipulate the landscape to do lots of stuff like...

Landslides!

Sentient rocks that try to grab you!

Or he can directly involve himself by fucking jabbing limbs into the eyeball. I can’t make this shit up.

Outside the canyon there’s still a bit of plantlife growing, so it’s safe to say this canyon is probably located somewehre near the edge of the land since the further you go, the darker and bleaker it gets. 

The Dead Forest:

This section wasn’t actually given a name so I’m just calling it the dead forest. What really struck me here is the trees kind of look like people???? Especially that tree in the center there. Looks like one person embracing another. There’s no mention of this so I mean.... angsty headcanon opportunities, eh?

Also this place is inhabited by giant fire-breathing flying squirrels. Yeah, you read that right.

The Boneyard:

A dark, desert-like landscape riddled with bones and buzzards.

Chase jabs the ground here and summons a giant zombie serpent. Can Chase raise the dead? Or is it limited to this land only? Who knows. 

And that’s all canon has to offer. Judging by the background shots, this land is pretty expansive so there’s plenty of room for headcanon shenanigans. But at least with this, there should be a better understanding of Chase’s power/abilities and his uh... living situation I guess?

Chase’s Lair

A guide on what Chase’s lair is like because there’s a lot going on with this place and I want to assist peeps in visualizing it when stuff happens there. 🤔

I went through a bunch of episodes and capped everything I could find about Chase’s place! Under a cut due to extreme length.

The Exterior:

A volcanic mountain structure. The entrance is very high, just above cloud level. The entrance looks like a monster’s jaw. 

The Entryway: 

The “jaw” is protected with a stone slab, which descends to reveal a wooden door further into the “throat” of the entrance.

There are some inconsistencies in the show about whether the front door is stone or wood, but since this is the debut episode and it’s wood--- I’ll try and stick with wood. Looks classier anyway.

Here’s the inside of that door! And what do visitors see?

The Interior:

A beautiful, palace-like interior featuring many plants/minor overgrowth and marble structures reminiscent of Roman/Greek architecture with maybe even a hint of Atlantean influence?

Dramatic waterfalls.

There’s a pretty pool at the base of each waterfall!

Dining Room:

A seemingly vacant room with a table in the center. Has a second level that looks down on the table. Appears to be full of art and doors for the cats? 

Also there’s a chandelier.

The door leading to the dining room is stone and seems to be at the end of a narrow stone hallway-- perhaps the same hall connected to the soup room?

The Soup Room:

A small diamond-shaped room at the end of a long, narrow hall. A cauldron for preparing soup sits in the center. Each wall is covered with a curtain. Behind those curtains?

Cans and cans and cans of soup.

The Trap Hall:

There is a trap door at the entrance that leads trespassers to this hall. Long, rocky, and appearing like a snake’s mouth! It leads to what I call...

The Play Room:

A vacant circular room decorated in cat’s eye gems with an odd spiral design in the center. (The cauldron isn't normally there. It’s set there as a trap.) There’s also an entrance that connects to the main interior, which Chase uses to enter.

The red panels seem to have some kind of outside access since the cats just walk up and appear there--- Also there’s some nice bird statues.

Chase just needs to flip a switch and the spikey patterning opens up to reveal a pit of fire!

Hit another switch and mirrors rise from the spiral pattern to disorient his foe!

Despite the dangers, Chase seems to have moved a dining table into this room at a later point??? Bruh.

The Throne Room:

A mostly empty room with a throne and torches scattered around for effect.

The dome ceiling of the throne room is actually a projection and Chase has a remote that can alter the lighting of the room, be it different types of sky or even just solid colors.

Mysterious Trap Hall???:

This one is weird. The trap door is also at the entrance-- but it magically sucks intruders UP. Only for them to fall...down...into this hall. Weird magic shit I guess.

I don’t know if the hall leads to just a random pit of fire--- or if it goes to some room and Chase just put a fire barrier there. Either way, the hall ends in fire.

Also the door behind them is just some storage room that had ONE wu on a pedestal???? Pretty sure this entire hall was just some random dramatic plot pushing space.

The Skull:

Just an empty space behind the eyes of the lair. Pretty good spot for a fight.

Pretty edgy windows.

It’s got a ledge that appears to hide a wall of fire. I’m thinking this is why the hole at the top of the volcano is glowing red? 

And that’s about all I could find of importance!! I hope this helps some people? Or at least give some of my partners a better understanding of Chase’s crib. This isn’t even everything either. He obviously has a LOT of space that clearly hasn’t been shown-- like his bedroom for instance! So there’s a lot of room for headcanon stuff too. Given what’s canon, there’s hardly any limits to the levels of ridiculousness. ;/
