Kurt: Dad?
Burt: Holy crap, Kurt. Are you and Finn ok? The rest of your friends? Carole ain't here right now, she got called in for somethin' but things got shook up real bad here.
Kurt: I'm... I'm fine Dad. I think my friends at NYADA are ok. Manhattan didn't get hit with an earthquake. What happened over there?
Burt: I was sleepin' when things got shaky. Crap. The motor shop went under but so did a lot of places. We're at the community center now counting folks. Jesus almighty... I think people are figurin' out things ain't normal no more. We're scared and some are mad. People wanna know what's happening. Who to blame...
Kurt: Christ.
Burt: Kurt, you gotta be honest with me, son. You aren't going out there with terrorists and all that hell, right?
Kurt:
Burt: Kurt, you're a normal kid. You don't have to do this. None of you have to.
Kurt: I-I know that, Dad. I know... I just want... things to be normal. It's...
Burt: Son?
Kurt: [began to cry softly.] I'm tired of making this my new normal. I don't want to be here. I don't want to be who I am. I don't... was Mom like this?
Burt:
Kurt: Or am I just not getting it? I'm so tired of being a part of this. I'm tired of being sad, and angry, and upset with myself however I don't know how to make it stop.
Burt: Kurt, you have me. You got Finn and Carole and... Blaine. You don't have to do this alone, son. And your mom... she was a peaceful, nurturing person. She wasn't like... this. She and I, we were happy together. I ain't good with words but it was bliss. And nothing would hurt when we were together. You came out of that, Kurt.
Kurt:
Kurt: [thoughts] Then she isn't like me. Because I have a war in me.
Kurt: Yeah. Peaceful... that's. That's all I want now. Like what you and Mom had... thanks for talking with me Dad.
Kurt: [thoughts] I'm tired of fighting a losing war.
Kurt: Be safe. You and Carole.
