Production Engineer (Consumables) Background: Our client manufactures and sells a leading laboratory liquid handler with nanolitre handling capabilities which utilises a miniature consumable syringe in its operation. Production of the consumable is carried out in house and its efficiency is vital to the continued success of the business. The size and capabilities of the in-house production team are being increased and there is an identified opportunity for an experienced and motivated Production Engineer to help strengthen it Role: To work with the Consumables Manager to improve the throughput and yield from the current production manufacturing machines for in-house consumables production Responsibilities: • Provide engineering analysis of operation and performance of the production machines • Design, prototype and implement modifications to improve production performance • Design, prototype and implement test fixtures and jigs to support production and test. • Contribute to design, prototyping and implementation of next generation machines. • (Provide ‘hands on’ contribution to production when required) • Provide engineering support to the Consumables manager to help resolve any problems with BOF consumables Skill set • Qualified to Degree level in engineering • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills • Proven track record of design, prototype and test of electro/mechanical/pneumatic machines. (previous design experience of high throughput materials handling machinery an advantage) • Able to design and detail using SolidWorks (ideally 3 years minimum experience) • Computer literate with good spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel) skills • Good communication skills Personal Qualities • Self managing & motivating • Must be able to demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude • Willing to be involved ‘hands on’ . • Methodical & thorough with good attention to detail • Able to finish a task • Good team player
