Machu Picchu - Travel on your own and take the challenge
Machu Picchu, one of the most famous sights in the country of Peru is now in the list of new seven wonders of the world included. Machu Picchu is situated on a ridge above the Urubamba Valley at about 2,400 meters above sea level. Through its cultural and spiritual significance, Machu Picchu was part of the wish list one hundred most endangered sites by the World Monuments Fund in 2008. It is believed that the early inhabitants of Machu Picchu in 100 years after its establishment, may have died from smallpox, a disease that Spaniards introduced to the area during their conquests, although there is no record that the Spanish ever visited Macho Picchu . The story of Machu Picchu coincides with peak time of the Inca empire in around 1450AD. There are many ideas about the construction of Machu Picchu, but the real purpose of Machu Picchu is not said with much accuracy. Some believe it could have been a prison, while others that it was a defensive retreat to believe. Most archaeologists have speculated that it was the estate of an Inca ruler. But the reality remains a mystery. The most important feature in the history of Machu Picchu is architectural beauty. It was built in the same way as the pyramids of Egypt taken by using massive stones of the country. There is clear evidence of their creative minds, they cut the stones with such precision that stones fit tightly together. The stones are not bonded by mortar, but they are still close enough that it is very difficult to fit a small thin knife between. The fact that the ruins are almost intact even today is still proof of the quality of processing in Inca construction techniques used, particularly in view of the area often by strong earthquakes and violent storms. It is a mystery, how to cut the stones Incas in such a manner exactly without the use of modern technology. It is a myth that aliens came and supported! It is generally acknowledged that Hiram Bingham, the first person was to discover Machu Picchu, but there is evidence that the site explorers reached before Bingham. A long time researcher of Cusco-Simone Waisbard claimed he took the name of Enrique Palma, Gabino S engraved? Sánchez and Agust? N Liz? Rraga on one of the rocks at Machu Picchu 14th July 1901. Also in 1904, Franklin allegedly discovered the ruins of a distant mountain. He informed his Christian missionary friend, Thomas Payne live in this region through the website, the allegedly along with his fellow missionary Stauart E. McNairn to climb to the ruins in 1906. The Incas were amazingly advanced for the time, as shown in the design and construction of their ceremonial centers. Some other examples of their architectural intelligence and competence are Pisac and Ollantaytambo Cusco.
