My reflection on the course and overall experience

Hi people, this will be my last post on this blog in regard to my Instructional Technologies course. However, I am still thinking of continuing to write on this wall about more personal stuff.

I would like to start this post by reflecting on to my “teaching with technology statement” (the post titled “you know nothing”).

I still almost completely agree with the idea of people perceiving technology as a “cool tool” rather an actual phenomenon.

However, MY OWN perception has changed significantly over the course of the whole term as I got to use technology more actively. The tasks given helped me see the advantages more clearly and understand the practicality and benefits it brings to the classroom.

Besides these, the variety of the ways that how it can be integrated in lessons has enabled me to form new ideas and lesson plans in my future classrooms.

As for my reflection on the course;

Firstly, I really and TRULY want to say that I am very happy and thankful to have this course I think it’s one of the most beneficial and relatable from the ones we had this semester. I truly enjoyed completing every task and I think they were all very well-selected and moderately easy. The only thing I didn’t like and made the course more challenging was the overlapping tasks.

Also, I have to admit that this course has made me feel more comfortable about the “entertainment part” of my future lessons because I now know that I can use the help of technology to make things more fun by using the proper tool/ website.

I don’t really have any suggestions to improve the course and I don’t think the tasks given were TOO much, the theory parts of the lessons were also good. Maybe (if absolutely necessary) the Word cloud or the RSS feed task can be cut off.

2019 has been a great year. After 10 years of living in London I finally decided to moved back to my hometown Leeds. London has been fantastic I have had some amazing experiences and grown as a person. I left Leeds as a girl of 19 and returned 10 years later a women and an expectant mother of 29🤰🏽 Got pregnant for the first time which has been an exciting and amazing experience, super excited and blessed to be a Mummy in 2020. I also got engaged to my other half which was well over due lol. #Week 11

As the semester is coming to an end, I’ve personally made a lot of progress in the course and learned a lot of new concepts. I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs through the course and put in quite some hours playing around with PyCharm too see all the new concepts in action and just to play around with the to get a better grasp in each concept.

I personally found the concept of Binary Search Trees really interesting and I can see how that concept has developed for me. I’ve come to see how their structure makes searching and inserting algorithms fairly straightforward. Not just focusing on their structure but also their practical use. Back when the topic was initially introduced to me I was wondering what purpose they might have and I thought that sorting could be one of them and as it turns out I was on the right track. As the topic of sorting was initially being introduced, I was overwhelmed by the many different sorting types that exist and wondered why and how come there exists so many. I’ve now seen by the end the use for each one of them by its uniqueness; it’s also clear while merge sort will always be better than selection sort and quick will almost always be better than selection sort. 

Even when we were introduced to the concept of recursion, I knew this would somehow come useful in the concept of LinkedList but I was unsure how this would fit together. Back then I was on the track that recursion is only limited to certain situations in Python however I now know how many more ways recursion can be implemented and used to optimize our code; usually leading to very readable, simple, code which can solve seemingly much more complex problems.It’s good to see all the ideas come together and fit in together perfectly, especially in how we learned about a simple version first and then later considered a specific implication later. All in all, it’s been a lot of fun exploring and progressing through the concepts!

and just like that, it's over. a fleeting moment that culminates your high school year followed by frenzied hugs, pictures, smiles, tears, laughs.  to be honest it still hasn't hit me yet, but one thing i know for sure.  no matter what happens, how long it is, where you are, you will always remember the people who you shared memories with, who shaped you, changed you, and inspired you to aspire to be greater.  thank you, Whitney High School.
