My art piece for the Dragon Age Big Bang this year, a few pieces of typography for Aphrael's Parallel Lives, a DA/ME fusion fic. Crossovers and fusions have forever been a guilty pleasure of mine, so when I saw the summary, I jumped all over it.

Since I wasn't sure how complete the rough draft would end up being, I set a few paragraphs for each glimpse, as well as a cover. I've always been drawn to a minimalist style, so there are only two fonts used here (three, if you count Garamond for the ampersand) and two colors: black (and its tints), and red. The eighth page (with the reaper) and the very last page are probably my two favorites.

Act 2! This set got... messy. :| The first page is a disaster of arrows, and the third page is kind of sad and pathetic. BUT HERE IT IS, and here is the Act 1 set.

The PDF of the whole thing will go up on Box when I'm done.

So here's the Act 1 "spreadsheet" for DA2 containing the optimal quest order (more or less) as well as approval. The approval may be borked. I haven't tested any of it; it came off the DA Wiki. Each page will print at 8.5 x 11" and fill the sheet. You'll want to open the images from my tumblr page to get the full resolution. If you want, I can make a larger, poster sized version, too, that will fit together when printed.

My suggestion is to do A Friend in the Guard, A Business Discussion, Long Way Home, and then quests related to A New Home since that leads to the Act 1 conclusion. The quests flow in that order (you'll see "START" and the Destruction of Lothering topping each page).

Whenever I write, I do little graphics to help me keep track of things. This is for my round two DA Big Bang fic, tentatively titled 13, or Thirteen, or something. It's a DAO/Black Jewels Trilogy fusion fic because I love crossovers/fusions and have no shame about it.

I'm doing my best to remain true to both sources as much as possible - which necessitates a female lead. Because of the political atmosphere (which plays a part in this fic), the female lead needs to be a Cousland, hence default Cousland name. Because I don't want to spoil too many plot points (namely how the two worlds combine), I'm not going to say much more, but if you're curious, you can read my notes. Otherwise, you can just enjoy the (moderately) attractive typesetting?

Regarding Jewel and Caste rank - those of you familiar with BJT may not agree with them, but I have reasons for everyone being placed where they are. If you're interested in said reasoning, shoot me an ask - preferably not anon, so we can chitchat without clogging up dashes. :3

It's a shame I only have yellow markers. Yellow is where good colors go to die.

Shots of the quick color test I just did.

The pen bleeds, so I'll need to wait more than 12 hours in the future. Though I am worried it doesn't matter and that the marker will drag the ink regardless. I don't have much of a way to protect the black ink, so my other option is laying down color first. Not sure I like that. Maybe I should switch to water color, lay down washes, then go over with the pen, and finally add detailing. We'll see.
