Can you please give a bit more clarification with what you mean by the world is stuck in medieval times?
09 / 03 / 2018 ------ not accurate anymore. keeping this here for memories’ sake.
so, here’s the deal — the world wasn’t always so dark. before the war, people were happy and the world was actually headed in a good direction, headed toward enlightment even. the art was changing, the architecture was changing, people’s mindsets were changing, women were gaining their independence.
this progress was what initially started the war — new territories were being discovered and everyone wanted the newly found land to themselves. more land means more power and more resources and that’s what monarchs needed while stepping into the new, brighter age. but eventually, in 1987 when one country laid claim to another country’s territory ( highkey,,, if you want your character’s country to be one of them lmk ), war broke out. each of those countries had allies who soon joined in. it became a world war around 1991. alliances were shifting, everyone was greedy for power and land. it wasn’t pretty.
but what’s important now is that during the war all this progress the world had made was lost. the buildings became heavy, fortificated; artists focused on depicting the events of the war rather than developing new styles. people had to adjust to the war. men had to become rough and tough, they all had to learn how to fight, how to kill. meanwhile, many women were being sent away. once again, women were painted as damsels in distress and men were painted as their brave knights.
the war went on for 25 years and the world kept falling down the rabbit hole during that time. but suddenly it’s 2016 and a peace treaty is signed. it’s unexpected, it comes as a surprise. no one won and no one lost in this war, it’s just a question of who’s caused the most damage. the peace is very fragile, very new and something a lot of people have only heard stories about. so, really, the war’s not over and it’ll never be over. it’s just the quiet before the storm.
