i always feel bad reviewing books that i felt where just okay since it feels mean to call something someone worked on for so long “mediocre”. i just have a very very high standard for books and fiction in general.
it only get’s worse when i find the rare exceptional book and my standards are raised.
I wonder if Turtles All The Way Down will cause an uptick in YA Novels featuring mentally ill protagonists, just as there was a spike in dystopian novels after the Hunger Games, and an increase in sibling-centric books after I'll Give You the Sun.
You know the book you just started reading is going to be a doozy when the second sentence is 112 words long. And that's counting hyphenated words as a single one.
a very unpopular opinion here but... “a court of thorns and roses” isn’t that great. i don’t get why every one on tumblr is fawning over it. i read it a while ago and was just meh about it, but seeing everyone talk about how amazing it is just makes me dislike it more.
