Moombahton! The Rise of a Dancefloor Riddim

Musical styles and subgenres are not necessarily born by choice; they are adapted and chosen from local towns and cities across the world.  When a particular genre becomes popular or valuable, it has more to do with how it was born, rather than what it will become in the future.  We’ve seen it happen before – funk music with lyrics took R&B to a level of rap music that was born to reflect the society and living conditions of those who lived it.  Electronic music, which has never been popular in the United States (compared to the rest of the world), is now becoming a household genre thanks to offshoots of dubstep music mixed with metal. In one part of the world, the roots of reggae and dancehall music are being fused with electronic music – something that has rarely been tackled by artist before.  Sure, we’ve heard reggae music mixed with dubstep, but this style of blending the two is completely original.  As expected, the birth of this new form of music is completely based on area and culture, rather than airwaves and profitability.  It is not likely to be everyone’s first choice in music, but it is definitely a creation born from spawned elements of music. http://blog.dubspot.com/what-is-moombahton-the-rise-of-a-dancefloor-riddim-w-dave-nada-dj-sabo-computo/
