MOTHER FUCKING NOTE PLEASE MURDER ME FAE
Allura,If you’re reading this… Well.. You already know what happened.
( a lot of the text is scratched out, he’d written this letter over and over again )
This is probably fifth attempt for writing this because I… I don’t know what to say to you. I guess the first thing I want to tell you is that I’ve always believed in you. My actions might say otherwise but we both know that I don’t always think things through. I guess I’ll never improve on that front, since that’s probably what got me killed.
You’re father would be proud of you. I never told you but before the castle got infected I went in and spoke to him and asked him a lot of things. I asked him how I could be a better paladin, and I asked him how I could keep his legacy alive and make him proud. I never really asked about you because I didn’t want to invade your privacy but he mentioned you in passing a few times and told me that he always valued you and always knew that whatever choices you made you’d make him proud.
I know I’m not really a paladin anymore but I’ll give my life in the name of Voltron. I’ll give my life to protect you. Of course I’d protect the team but with you it’s like there’s something more permanent about it. There aren’t a lot of Alteans anymore and I don’t want your culture to die without having a chance to rebuild itself because I know you wouldn’t want them to die out like this. You deserve a chance to rebuild your people.
There’s still so much about me you don’t know and there’s still so much about you that I don’t know but I cherish the few times we got to talk and really understand each other. All the lectures you’ve given me always helped me grow as a person and helped me realize that you aren’t just lecturing me for the hell of it. You wanted to help me grow as a paladin and as a person. I’ve always loved your support that you’ve given me.
The blade has given me a real chance to find myself outside of Voltron and I couldn’t be happier, but I miss everyone in Voltron. I miss flying Red. I miss being able to do your father proud. I’d know about Alfor being the red paladin for a long time since he told me when I went to talk to him once. I always felt more pressure to live up to him because I was the next paladin after him, and I wanted to do him and you proud.
( there’s more lines through text here, clearly he didn’t know what to say )
I know we haven’t always gotten along but I want you to know I never hated you. When I first found out I was galra I was shocked too, I felt the same hatred you felt because I knew what my heritage did to your people. It was hard to look at myself in the mirror without thinking that I was Zarkon, and that I somehow was fighting on the wrong side of the war, yet I knew in my heart that my heritage doesn’t make me who I am. You told me that no matter what blood runs through my veins that my actions will always show where my loyalty lies and that loyalty is with Voltron and to your people.
Thank you for your endless support and having faith in me when I felt the rest of the team didn’t because you can see that I’m so much more than my faults. You’ve given me the chance to find out who I really am by letting me be a paladin. Back on earth I didn’t have a place in the world, I was always by myself and I always ended up alone. Yet now that I’m here and I’m fighting for something I finally feel like I belong somewhere and that for the first time in my life I have a reason to keep going.
I know that I’m gone now that you’re reading this, but the only reason I’d give my life is if Voltron and it’s coalition were in danger. I’d give my life up if it meant I could save thousands of people. Thank you for finally giving my life purpose for the time that I had it. Life really is too short, and I’ve tried to spend it the best way I can and that’s by giving people hope where there is none.
Thank you for everything, you’re amazing and beautiful and you’re upholding your father’s legacy. You’re a force to be reckoned with and I wish I had the chance to voice all of this in front of you because I feel like you put yourself down and feel like you’re letting us all down yet you’ve never done that. You’ve given us all a place in the universe and given us all a chance to fight for something that’s bigger than who we are. Thank you so much Allura. I’ll never be able to thank you enough.
You’re everything I’ve ever thought a princess could be. You’re kind, thoughtful, fierce, and yet you always show so much kindness to everyone you meet. You’ve shown me that peace is way more viable than violence. Your father really would be proud of you, and I’m proud of you too. I hope my sacrifice is always remembered and I hope that you make it through this war alive and have a chance to build an empire that strives for peace and equality, and I hope Altea gets to have a second chance at life on a different planet, where it’s people are ruled by a woman who is so much more than anyone could ever see.
Thank you for everything,Forever your Red Paladin, Keith.
