This design is a sophisticated expression of Philippine tropical modernism, adapted specifically for a world-class historical museum. Extensive use of open lattice-work wooden louvers and massive skylights adapts traditional "bahay na bato" ventilation concepts for a contemporary institutional setting. Integrated planters feature lush, native species that represent the natural history of the region alongside its human milestones. Large-format windows frame specific garden views to treat the external landscape as a living exhibit. This museum uses "passive cooling" techniques inspired by our ancestors.
