I have a bit of a hard time reading regular chapter fics because I feel it's insulting to the writer to just skim the fic to look for the bits of my favorite characters! But thank you for the rec! I enjoyed him so much in that part!

FMA!Flames: Roy--mist, Riza--cloud, Ed--storm, Al--rain, Winry--sun, Izumi--storm, Hoenheim--cloud, Armstrong--sun, Olivier--lightning, (thousands more I can't list) and Hughes . . . . Sky. It explains why his death was so tragic, not only among the characters but the fans. We knew him for such a short time but you can't help but gravitate to him and even now, years later, that pain still eats away at us if we think about it too long. Thoughts?
Finally got the chance to sit down and ponder this! Okay, here are my picks.
Roy - Storm. Super destructive (obviously thinking of his flame alchemy, but he can be pretty self-destructive too at times), and always trying to think three steps ahead (“continuously at the heart of the attack”, etc.).
Riza - Hmm. I want to say Sun. She’s Roy’s support and keeps him from wrecking himself. Also the whole “destroying the misfortune that attacks the Famiglia with their own body” thing fits her combat skills I think (even her shooting skills since I consider her guns to be an extension of her own body), and arguably also fits the whole alchemy tattoo that she had Roy burn off her back to prevent there ever being any more flame alchemists.
Ed - Agree with you here; this motherfucker is a big damn Storm. Always on the attack, never resting. Although I think he might be a Storm/Sky combo like Xanxus, because he has bits and pieces of a lot of the other types as well, and he attracts a lot of colorful characters to his side, being the protagonist and all.
Al - Rain! Tranquil but can fuck your shit up if need be.
Winry - I agree with Sun, but maybe also Storm? She’s pretty hard to peg down, actually, because she has several different flame characteristics. She’s extremely smart, she’s fiery and independent, and she’s not only Ed and Al’s support, but the support for a whole lot of other people since she’s such a great automail mechanic. I think Sun and Storm are the two best fits, though.
Izumi - At first I was going to say Storm, but you know what? I think it’s Rain. Her “housewife” personality is surprisingly warm and tranquil, but when push comes to shove you’d better fucking watch out. The tendency is to think of Rain types as generally being more peaceful, but then you remember that Squalo is also a Rain type so basically all bets are off lmao.
Hoenheim - Definitely Cloud. “The aloof, drifting Cloud that protects the Family from an independent standpoint.” There’s playing the long game, and then there’s whatever the fuck Hoenheim did, because he took that shit to brand new levels hitherto unseen. Fucking worked though, so.
Armstrong - Yeah, Sun. He basically is Ryohei but muscle-i-er. He absolutely is the Sun that brightly shines upon the area or whatever the fuck.
Olivier - Have to disagree here, I’d go with either Cloud or Mist. She’s the only one of this bunch who’s actually capable of deception, and she does what she wants and watch out if you get in her way.
Hughes - …he literally took a bullet for the team so I want to say Lightning. But your argument for Sky is a good one as well. He’s well-rounded and attracts people to him.
BONUS: My boy Ling! I feel like he has the chillness of the average Rain type and the savviness of the typical Mist. Take your pick! Probably leaning Mist tbh.
