SO - Episode 5

And we're back to Breaking Bad! 

What's amazing about this 5th episode of SO is that it is the first one recorded after we launched the podcast. That means that we recorded this after receiving all of the invaluable feedback from friends and family. 

What I love about this episode is that Zalina manages to fit in a Maya Angelou quotation (pretty timely considering the passing of the totally kick-ass lady) and we act out the bomb scene so that I can really appreciate it.

Knight Clubbing

Last night BBC3 showed a documentary produced by two "faces and voices of the future", Andrew Rowe and Matt Ralph, about the closest you can get to going back to Medieval times: The Knight Club. Not just reenactment--actual brutal, head on, broadswords and maces and axes stuff. Medieval battles for real. Everyone gets hurt but they all love it. It's something new, of our age: recreating the past in every detail. Even a bit of the horror of it.

I found it fascinating, especially that the 22 national teams had to camp there Medievally, too---they couldn't have anything modern or they'd be fined. The only women I saw were cleaning and cooking, I think.  

The first past life I recalled , while in therapy, was from this age. And I was involved in many battles of this sort. But I wouldn't want to recreate any of them. I was fascinated by the armor I saw last night, though. And I found some of the young men in armor very charismatic - as though I would be pleased to go into battle with them.  

I imagine this new 'sport' will grow and eventually women, too, will be there clothed in armor, standing proudly to begin with and limping afterwards. And going back the next year determined to feel that psychological and physical rush again.
