16th Sun of the Third Umbral Moon

We hunt Alaric now. We have recouped our losses, pulled together what assets remain and have found a new will.  There have been talks of following in the steps of Catherina’s old masters. We will see where we go. 

My classes have picked up and I find solace in them. I did not write about the trip to Rhalgr’s Reach, nor much about my academy work. I had many students, including the squires, who wish to see an understanding of wounds and how it all works behind the scene. 

In the midst of Jun’s exile from the ship we continued our work with the Academy, remaining lost overall. 

But a light came to us and so did my inspiration to continue with teaching while watching my alternate live fall apart. But that is the past...I must admonish myself every time I think back to it.

To get back on track, I took my lovely students to the front. Vi, Klara, Brogan, Reiyah, and Jun. We brought along protection in the form of Arik, Rosette, Kayne, and Mafrea. 

We came across a garlean deserter that Kayne easily handled and while explaining some details, a dreadnaught went down and its collision blast reached us. Between the protective magicks of Jun and the physical shields of our protectors, we made it out with minor bumps and bruises. 

As we returned through the tunnel I found Remus waiting for me. He was distraught and rambling. In the end, it came down to the fact that while I apparently resemble his adoptive mother and he is bound to me through our bond in Aster, he still feels tied to the ship and its people. Admitting that some of them are worth saving. I do not disagree and gave him my blessing, letting him know that I will be here for him whenever he needs me. 

It was twice as hard to watch Kayne depart, knowing their body was most likely to be mangled and torn in only a matter of days. A horrific cycle that one day he will not be saved from. I am doing my best to leave them all be, but a part of me wants to chase after them and beg them to stop. 

But it is not my place anymore.

19th Sun of the Fifth Astral Moon

It’s been a long day. We returned to the port to remember what warmth felt like and to pick up supplies before returning to the ship in Ishgard. 

There I bumped into Miss Kat talking to a man named Captain Lucien Kell. He was a slick man with an easy smile. Everything that made me realize that I should not keep personal company with him. He strikes me as a more educated version of Corsa’ir. Though where Corsa’ir is blunt and more overt, this Captain duels with words and polite inference. So that is that. I fear that our paths will cross once more once we return from Ishgard. It shall be interesting.

Once I extracted myself from that to tend to an appointment I decided to take the opportunity of the sun and water and joined Miss Cath and her Rei down at the show where we were then joined by Mafrea, Arik and Miss Kat. It was a light-hearted affair for the most part. Welcome smiles and antics filled the short hours.

Miss Kat has just seemed rather down as of late and I attempted to lift her spirits with a gift, which she attempted to push away. A simple seashell apparently was not professional...a word she uses as a crutch. Well, I decided right then and there that all the crutches must be pulled away. She, of course, stormed away. I have realized that those that storm off require the most aid. 

I did not immediately follow, instead, I let her think on the interaction as I enjoyed the rest of my evening with my friends. 

Once I did catch up, I found her relaxing at home. She seemed surprised by my appearance there. But we moved into ‘the talk’. I attempted to be delicate, but a woman like that needs blunt truth. And as it is part of my work for the ship, I cannot write the details here. All I can say is that there is so much anger and fear in her. Not a typical fear either. And for the record, one can be respected and loved. One chooses fear. And I must speak with Miss A’kaia and thank her, for there was a moment where I believe myself in jeopardy without her intervention.
