I could've put Loki as the 'deserved better from canon' box, too, but I didn't want to fill half of these boxes with just Loki, lol.
@nebbyselfships made the meme template, lol.

Ideas for a DHMIS S/I?
Just some brainstorming.
Maybe he’s a dragon? Constantly mis-identified by Duck, who calls him a bat, horse, crocodile, snake, and a dinosaur. (Only ever refers to him with real animals.)
In-show would be a costumed human with a puppet-head, not a full puppet. Similar to Big bird?
Based loosely on the La Choy dragon? (But has a bit more detail in him, features are also sharper to get across a ‘dangerous’ vibe.)
Has ‘follow me eyes’, meaning the eyes of the costume always look like they’re looking directly at the camera, even when S/I is supposed to be talking to the other characters.
Teaches/talks about stories/books? Something involving mythology/fantasy, for sure.
- *Insert a joke from Duck that the notepad has already talked to them about this, but S/I cuts them off.* S/I: ”No, no! No she hasn’t! This is completely different!” -
This is more than just a quick jab, though. It is actually pretty different. In theming mainly, as the emphasis lies in “escapism” and a question of where reality ends and fantasy begins, rather than Notepad’s theming of "Don’t be creative and just go along with the program or you’ll get hurt”. Basically: Notepad’s theme is subservience and avoiding independent thought, while S/I’s theme is using creativity as an escape and losing your identity and sense of reality in your fantasies. (It may or may not be implied that S/I was a snake at one point, driving that theme home.)
A big emphasis on the distinction between reality and fantasy, while also blurring said distinction throughout the episode.
He’s introduced when Yellow guy asks Red to check his bedroom closet, since he claims he heard a monster inside. Red guy goes to check it out, and when he opens it, S/I is inside and thanks Red guy for ‘letting him free’.
- Duck: “We don’t need those fancy books, we have everything we need right here!” *Duck pulls out a history book.* S/I: “Ugh. But history is boring, innit? Wouldn’t you rather read something like this?” *Pulls out a copy of Frankenstein (Symbolism).* Duck: I don’t think- S/I: *Cuts him off* Anything is possible in your imagination! That’s what makes fiction fun! -
Basically revealed that he’s trying to drag the characters into a Narnia-type "wonderland" where he gives them everything and never wants them to leave, ‘Foster’s home Destination: Imagination’-style. (Bonus: The parts in the ‘dream world’ are 2-D animated.)
- S/I: Fantasy is much better than a sad, painful reality! *Insert long, uncomfortable pause with no music.* You can do anything, go anywhere, be anyone, and have as many loving friends and family as you want! Yellow guy: You mean like my shy older brother? S/I: Of course! But why stop there? Why not have a whole family? Red guy: I could have a whole family? Duck: Stop that! Don’t be silly, make-believe like that is for children! S/I: *Getting visibly upset, but he’s trying to keep his cool.* No, it isn’t! Anyone can have an imagination if they try! How do you think authors write books? Why not try it yourself? I’ll bet your imagination is lovely! -
Duck’s imagination sucks. He literally just makes the living room, with him in the chair reading the news.
- S/I: ... I- ... Well, it’s a start! Why not try something more exciting? Duck: Hmm... *Now he’s wearing red instead of brown.* S/I: ...I see. Duck: What? I never wear red. S/I: Well, yeah, but I was thinking something more like... maybe imagine yourself as a pirate? An astronaut? Something you’d never do? Duck: Hmm... *Now he’s in the kitchen reading the paper.* S/I: ... Okaaaay. I’m gonna check on the other two now, so... have fun. -
Duck doesn’t show up anymore through the episode until the end, where he ends up driving S/I back into the closet using a “Boring” non-fiction book.
Red guy seems to be the only character that remembers S/I after that. Every time S/I comes up, Yellow and Duck have absolutely no idea who S/I is, and Red guy is just like- “You know... S/I? the one who came out of the closet?” and they just sort of look at Red guy like he’s crazy. (It may or may not be implied that Red guy visits the dreamworld occasionally.)
