Relationship Vibes: Disney (part 1)

So I was discussing my opinion of a specific pairing's relationships the other day, and was inspired to do this thing.

Beauty and the Beast: I see this as very cozy, mature. Respect between partners had to be earned, but was then consistent from that point forward. They're both home bodies, which is easy when most everything you could ever possibly want is right at home. Lots of being cozy and relaxed together, with the occasional activity to shake things up.

Snow White: Not a whole lot of development, honestly. Lots of elegance and quiet intimacy. The idealized relationship model of little girls everywhere, because both parties are idealized to the point of "if they're doing it, it must be correct" in-universe.

Cinderella: Also idealized and elegant with quiet intimacy, however, there are different personality traits if you pay attention. One is headstrong but also steadfast, which is good, it breeds loyalty and commitment. Similarly, the other is solid and steady, while also being very kind, gentle, and joyful.

The Little Mermaid: They're both optimistic adventurers, full of dreams and curiosity, but also they're genuinely good people. He's exceptionally kind, and she's incredibly open-minded. They both are very playful, and also very brave against impossible odds.

Aladdin: They're both dreamers, and though they dream in different directions, they collide favorably anyway. Technically, they are both representations of what the other wants: Freedom, and Importance. They are ride-or-die, and worked together in times of crisis without so much as a word spoken between them.

Mulan: They're actually both very loving people, Shang moreso in private, while Mulan is outspoken. She wears her heart on her sleeve, his is carefully guarded. Both are powerful individuals, capable in their own right, although one is more intellectual, the other more intuitive. Both of them grow and learn, largely as a result of each other and what they've gone through, together and separately.

Pocahontas: Because this is highly historically innacurate, this pairing is written by falling back on a very controversial trope that is incredibly easy to do wrong (like here). One actually knows what they're talking about and the other needs to learn that his approach to the world at large is wrong. In my opinion, they were trying to do The Little Mermaid, but if Eric was ignorant in spite of experience, which sours the dynamic. (I actually like the movie, ever since I was a kid, but I believe that the adults who greenlit the movie and everything that happened in it should've been thinking more responsibly, releasing it to a generally ignorant public and all)

Even in the short period of time Lucid has gotten to know Adam (and is continuing to), he’s already trusting of him. Yes they started out on the wrong wing, but Lucid is quick to forgive, especially now that he understands it was a case of mistaken identity. For Adam to give him the time of day to start over and talk speaks volumes to the seraphim.

The fluffy vibe definitely comes from the man’s hair. And Lucid sees him very much as friend shaped so yes he’s getting the hugs xD
