BEING THE LOVE OF IVAR’S LIFE AND HIM BEING NERVOUS ABOUT PROPOSING TO YOU HEADCANONS:

◾ At the beginning, Ivar would almost temporarily separate himself from you before finding enough courage within himself about the proposal, simply due to the fact that he would be feeling rather abash & tense about proposing to you. Meanwhile at the same time span, questioning to Why someone like you would ever accept his hand in marriage? Clearly having quite the hard struggle to comprehend such, to which still truly baffles him to this day.
◾ He would be an complete bundle of nerves. So much in fact, that this Viking Prince would almost seem peculiar & somewhat recognisable to you. He would not seem to behave like his normal self. (Bless his heart though!!!😭😭😭)
◾ With that said, since Ivar is quite an intelligent & rather tactful being, I believe he would plan the entirety of the proposal for weeks on end; mulling over it to the point in which he would become & seem much more brooding than usual. Easily snapping at the smallest thing, ready to strike at any moment.
◾ It would seriously take himself much longer, especially time wise to reach-out with asking for some help, wanting everything perfect. Right down to the smallest detail. He would think or view himself as somewhat useless, because he wouldn’t be able to get everything sorted on his own, -to which is what he would truly want- (F*UCKING BLESS HIM!!! HE IS TOO PRECIOUS!!! 😭❤️)
◾ Eventually, however, he would grudgingly lean towards his older brothers Bjorn and Ubbe, and family friend Floki, - and of course, his mother -. His mother would be over the moon, wishing to control everything. But Ivar would indignantly retort to her, telling her to stay out of it and only help him with how to prepare his speech.
◾ Whereas Floki, Bjorn and Ubbe would snicker, taunting him. They’d be barking madly about how finally he’d found someone other than his bitter angry and mother to be his company in life.
◾ But eventually they would settle themselves down and help him.
◾ He would take you out to a place where you would be undisturbed, and his brothers could not laugh at him, making him out to be a fool.
◾ Also, that way, if you rejected him, the consequences of his anger devastation would not be witnessed by anyone else.
◾ I’d imagine that he would have gotten all the arrangements together. He would want it planned out perfectly, but would definitely be afraid to ask his brothers from help.
◾ He would probably ask Ubbe, Bjorn or Floki to help.
◾ Ubbe, Bjorn and Floki would so tease him over it.
◾ It would seem like Ivar was avoiding you, as he would part from you often and quite hastily, not acting like his normal self, but getting irritated when you would try to pry, possibly even wounding your feelings.
◾ I’d imagine that he would sit on his own in nature, praying to the God’s about the best way to do this. Asking them to help things to go smoothly and that you agree to his hand in marriage.
◾ I’d imagine that when he felt that everything was perfect, he would show up, telling you he wanted to show you something and not speaking to you for the whole journey, unless it was to tell you to shut up and be patient.
◾ He would actually blush, okay? Like you’d know something was up with this sinnamon roll, but he wouldn’t tell you what it was. He would abruptly leave or grow angry and then leave.
◾ For what to say, Ivar would definitely go to Floki for help. Even if Floki pissed him off with his teasing, he would trust that he wasn’t setting him up to say the wrong thing.
◾ Ubbe and Bjorn would help with the arrangements.
◾ I believe that when he got to the right place, he would stop abruptly, causing you to almost step on his hand or something. He would snap at you, but it would somehow be more tender than normal.
◾ His throat would get dry and he would be incapable of looking up at you the whole time.
◾ He would stumble over his words, growing angry with himself and saying forget it.
◾ You would urge him to carry on, spurring you both into an argument.
◾ “Why would you be bothered with marrying a sorry excuse like me?”
◾ “Because you are everything that I’ve ever wanted, Ivar. It does not matter to me that you are a cripple. What matters to me is that you love me so much, enough to ask me to marry you.”
◾ When he is finished, he would shut his eyes and wait for your answer. Ending with this Viking Prince becoming completely shocked at you saying yes, he would not believe you, almost feeling frozen in his spot.
◾ He would be sorry for every time he had been angry ad lashed out on you for prying.
◾ He would lie awake at night telling you he would propose to you, knowing that you are half asleep.
◾ I believe he would shake during the proposal, making it hard for him to keep himself upright on his arms.
◾ Before it, any time that you both were in bed, you would feel him so tense and shaky, struggling to concentrate on whatever it is that you both were getting up to.
◾ He would be so happy when it’s all over and done with, but still shocked that you even said yes.
