Movie review: Is God Is
First time watch. It was released this year (2026). It's like an hour and two thirds long. I swear to god (haha) that I didn't pirate it. The genres are Southern Gothic revenge dark comedy thriller.
Main characters in most to least favorite: Anaia, Racine.
Anaia. Just Anaia. All by herself for the first time.
- Anaia not wanting to be violent and then getting pushed to that extreme is everything to me. I really love it when characters that are non- or less-violent have to anyway.
- Instant favorite, I love this movie so much. I'm gonna be rewatching it a bunch.
- It's such an incredibly well done movie. The premise itself is really intresting and there are so many cool details, it makes it really fucking cool. I know I've said that a lot but it's because it's true. The way they talk in third person with each other? The twin telepathy? The writing on the screen to show their thoughts? Chefs kiss chefs kiss.
- One of the only revenge trope movies where I can actually see how the pieces fell into play like that. Of course they want to kill him. Of course he hasn't changed. Of course his wife and other kids are like that.
- Really cool how the movie adds more emotion and suspense by not showing things, like their dad being faceless for most of the movie and their mom/God's legs not being shown, only the twin's reaction to seeing them.
- The ending destroyed me. What do you mean they don't get to both have a happy ending?? I'm glad that Anaia got one at least and I do like how it was done but holy fuck.
- Their siblinghood and trauma feels realistic, which seems simple but a lot of movies get it wrong. It's very nice.
For the tests, it passes all of them except the Kumbalangi test, and isn't applicable for the Ali Nahdee and Vito Russo tests.
