Christian Problems
Speaker: You shouldn't keep doing the same thing over and over again when you know it's bad! It feeds bad behavior that continues in a cycle.
Me: *taking notes* She's absolutely right!
Speaker: Now I don't know Ellen Degeneres, but once she came out as a proud lesbian there has been a tidal wave of problems in the church.
Me: *is dumbstruck* What the hell...
Everyone else: AMEN!!!!
Speaker: *screaming* Also women aren't the root of the problem Men shouldn't listen to their wives. And we should take the Bible literally!
Everyone else: literally have died
Me: why tho...
Rant Time
Ok this isn't about the dumb ass argument with the key frame idiot. This is about an interaction with a church group on campus.
So um a little annoyed, I was walking past one of the little church stands on campus giving out free hot cocoa. I began talking to them and was slowly getting interested, that is until I asked if they were inclusive to "gay" people. They all went silent and one guy actually asked me what that word meant. So I asked if they say all "gay" people go to hell, the nervous glances began.
I explained that I am pansexual and they slowly said that they are not 100% sure, but their pastor in services has preached how it is a sin. The polite way that, yes they believe all gay people are going to hell.
That cocoa got bitter REAL quick.
I am demisexual with pansexual tendencies, I don't have time for churches like this. This is why I don't like churches, before coming to terms with my sexuality I always felt different! The problem with having undiagnosed Aspergers for your entire childhood, you will always be ostracized for being different. I'm so tired.
This stupid reason among many of them, why I hate mankind
Yesterday, about midnight my elementary school friend called me. We weren’t anything like close friends, but almost always people who know me a bit know that I’ll always listen, even if it’s someone who I don’t like, because everyone need that person who will just listen. Say nothing. Just stay. When I picked cellphone I’ve heard him. He sounded like he’s just witnessed the biggest tragedy in his life. Unfortunately he did. I could heard his shaking voice and I could tell he was crying long before the call.
He told me, that he changed school about month ago and didn’t know anybody from his class or even school. Someday there was another typical lesson in Polish school during religion classes Gays and how wrong is that. Ugh. So, of course, there was a big discussion how gay are disgusting, how wrong is that, how God forbids this and yarayarayara. And he just couldn’t just sit there and listen to that bullshit and said that it’s not something we can choose or at least not in 100% of cases.
And It started. Classmates begin to hurt him with words. Firstly they just calling him really bad names, but, like he said he can endure it. But then, they managed other student who started to playing with him and he faked his friend. He trusted him and told thing he would never told other people like the fact that he is totally a virgin and he’s not sure about his sexuality. Today everyone in school are calling him a faggot, riding roughshod over him everyday and he told me that they’ve made fake leaflets with his number, where it is said that he’s a gay prostitute. Because It’s fucking Poland nobody want to touch this topic and It probably won’t be until he’ll hurt himself.
So I tried to comfort him, but I was just so pissed that the only thing I could do was just say I’m here. You’re not alone with this. I hate humans. I’m ashamed of being one of them. One side is beautiful, delicate, amazing the other one is just disgusting. I hate when people can easily believe in something they are not sure if it’s true, but they can broke another human being, who can be seen, who feels the same in mere seconds.
Does humanity even exist today?
Do you know why I don't come more often to church? Cause when I came there is always lectures like "Woman should be submissive to man" 😤😤😤😤
The thing is terrified as i am to go home and face everything i ran away from, because lets face it i ran away i mean yeah i was kicked out but i made the decision to leave the country it was much more easier to just leave it all behind and get a fresh start. Im happy to finally get that closure i really need to advance in life and just put that shit to bed. Im finally gonna be able to take this head on. No more denial and phone call hang ups when they don't wanna hear what i have say. Let this be it. Either you're gonna love me as who i am you're fucking child or you're gonna take their decision and shun me out. Either way atleast ill have let you know exactly how i feel and ill be able to accept you're decision knowing you know all i have to say.
To be honest, the discussions and debates about make-up/reclaiming femininity within lbqp and feminist tumblr always leave me feeling really unsettled and conflicted. My own relationship with make-up is super complicated, and I still can't figure out where I fit in the big picture.
When I was growing up, my parents were extremely religious. EXTREMELY, fundamentally christian (non-presbyterian reformed protestant, if we're getting specific). This meant that my sister and I were always in modest skirts with long hair and absolutely NO make-up or nail polish. I was only able to get away with using a bit of concealer, powder, and mascara when I was sixteen/seventeen. And it wasn't until I started college that I was able to experiment with and use make-up however I wanted.
Throughout that period, I was movingly radically away from my parents beliefs and restrictions and make-up was a big part of my process in trying to figure out who I really was. I lived in dramatic eyeliner and colourful lipsticks. If I was wearing make-up, every time I looked in the mirror it was a visible reminder that I wasn't under my parents' control anymore. Make-up meant I was free. It's actually only been in the past year that I've been able to come to terms with my own bare face and somewhat disassociate it from who I used to be, and I'm still in the process of learning to be okay with occasionally presenting that bare face to the world.
However, make-up=freedom is exactly the opposite of the greater societal experience. I know that women who conform to feminine expectations are rewarded by society and that it's a pretty fuck-up system. I know that my femme, straight passing appearance means I don't get the direct hate that a lot of butch women do. I know that I'm treated better and taken more seriously when I wear make-up than when I don't.
Rock, meet hard place. It seems that no matter what I choose to do, I'll still be conforming to someone.
