Mt. Shivling Expedition (6,543m) Mt Shivling is arguably the most beautiful peak in the Himalayan region of India located in the Gangotri Valley. The top of the mountain resembles a Shiv Lingam and hence the name. The front portion of the Shivling as viewed from Gaumukh(the source of the Ganga) resembles the face of the Indian God Ganesha. Hence the peak is greatly revered not only by the locals but also by many trekkers and mountaineers who have been to the region. True to its name, the Shivling is a very challenging and technical peak and requires a good deal of expertise.
